Yes, but there was no need for Morey to say that the Rockets have something up their sleeve either.

This argument doesn't rationalize Morey doing nothing, though. As GM it's his job to at least attempt improvement. So I welcome it, independent of your point.

While I agree, don't discount the fact that sports dynasties these days have a habit of imploding sooner rather than later. Now that the Dubs have won two out of three, I see discontent on the horizon; whining about PT, salary problems, infighting in the locker room, etc. They're already one of the more arrogant teams I've ever seen. Let's see if that locker room has space to accommodate all those swollen egos.

I think next year is their last as a 4-star team. After that, toppling them is doable (though it will still be a big task).

Patrick Patterson and then there is surprise trades... that's all Morey has in reality.

I hope Morey does not spend to much time waiting on the stars to turn us down and miss out like we did with Lowry the last time. We could lose out on signing a true difference maker like Pat Pat.

Pat Pat a true difference maker? Chris Paul is the true difference maker. You gotta exhaust all possibilities of a top 10 talent before you default to lifetime bench players like Patrick Patterson.

But so what? It does nothing to say that.

It just hurts people's feelings because they can't handle possible rejection or coming up short.

I would say there is more than a 1 in a 1000 chance that 2 Warrior all-stars go down with injuries. Then it is game on.

Coming back on earth though, how in the hell we're supposed to make this happen if they don't take a decent paycut? We would've to trade basiaclly anybody outside Harden, Capela...maybe Pat or Trevor...

Even if we pull it off, we'll end up with a case of late 90s Rockets where we had nothing outside of our aging big 3. Maybe Matt Maloney can still play for those checks he's still getting?

Lol @ those who think either one we can get. No depth with those 2 does little for us..we'd be 3rd seed tops and struggle with the same teams since we have little power up front, rebounding or defense.

On paper it would be easier to sign a free agent and trade/sign&trade for another one later, this would help us a bit and cost us less players...also, going after another top player would help a bit, Paul max is really a lot of money...Paul + Hayward is like 65M in salary, Hayward + Millsap might be 55M, which basically allows you to keep Gordon...Paul is obviously better than Millsap, but still...
