Remember with EG, he's on his last year of his deal, while Love is under contract for the whole Harden/Paul era. The timing works.

Morey's choice on EG is to either trade him, sign him to an extension, or let him walk after this season. The worst case scenario is losing him for nothing. Can we afford EG's asking price? If not, Morey has to trade him.

Is Love a star player anymore?
Unless everyone who is in the top 50 is a star.

Hard pass. He doesn’t help us get past GS.

Don't think Morey hasn't been paying attention to Bucks and what Brook Lopez did for Giannis and his offense.

If he can get Love, we could have 48 minutes of stretch 4 and/or 5 action (Love and Hartenstein).

If Morey could acquire two 20 M players to equal CP3's 40 M plus a lottery pick and Clark, I would do it.
    @Deuce
Please forgive me if you have already brought this up. I would appreciate your feedback on this.

McGee? I guess you gotta balance it out somewhere.

Capela is useless against Golden State, I get that, but I’m not sure it’s time to give up on him yet, especially for Kevin Love.

Luck though. Parker getting hurt before contracts, Duncan looking washed, etc. But yeah, at the end there was a loyalty factor.

That said, If CP3 was playing for $5 million less than the max it wouldn't make a difference.

The Spurs players weren't taking half of their market value (until the last year or so with Duncan.)

But Lopez is a premier defender under the rim and shot blocker.

Right, you could. But I think they'd have to wait until July 1 to acquire anyone with those, because I'm assuming that any June deals would push them over the tax line for FY 2019. Which would then push back the finalization date until September 1.

It's plausible, yeah, but quite a ways away.

The tax is based on your team salary as of your last regular season game.

Would definitely love a lineup that included Love in it.
It’s also time to get rid of Clint but only if it includes bringing in DJ or even McGee.
Would also love if Houston could somehow create cap space for Jimmy bc if we go the Love route then there’s no way we can also pursue the Butler route.
However, I’m definitely content with a lineup of

    Chris Paul
    James Harden
    PJ Tucket
    Kevin Love
    DeAndre Jordan

not sure why they didn't "look into him" last year. then again ...where's the defense coming from?

Aging an often injured CP3. Aging and often injured Love. Who is next?
