With Le$ and mauri at the top, I wouldn't come near Houston if I were a coach. Plus the whole chemistry disaster within the team? We'd be lucky to get any coach with a .501 history.

It baffles Me that some people want Jeff Van Gundy to coach the Rockets team.

First we shouldn't be surprised if JVG is the new coach of the Rockets next year, now it's the opposite?

My guess is Cyberx just says what he hears but this is just proof that there is more guided misinformation out there than solid real information, and nobody can get inside the head of a man like Van Gundy and know what he thinks and know that his mind will never change.

I think when the time come JVG will accept an interview with the Rockets. How well that goes is anyone's guess.

Seriously? What was he supposed to say? "They should fire the coach and let me take his place"?

No, but be true to your profession and do not praise someone just because he is a coach

The least he can do is be indifferent, I lose more respect for Jeff Van Gundy when he betrays being an analyst for being politically correct at that moment.

Can Les Alexander just sell the team to Tilman Fertitta already?

I wasn't a JVG fan when here was here, but i do believe we need a hard nose defense first coach like him. I would jump for joy if he accepted the job. Really if Les and Morey communicate how much want him, I don't see how he would turn down the team. Of coarse he would want a commitment to his vision, security, control and probably some sort of heart felt apology to seeing the error of their ways. If they want him and woo him like they did all these big name free agents they could get him. But it would take some swallowing of some pride and control by Les and Morey. How could he turn down being home, a player like Harden especially if he can help shape direction of the team moving forward. I bet he has a idea on how to stop GS....

What if we really did happen we landed JVG.... How would he and Harden get along? JVG was never one to like lazy no defense players with attitudes. Look what he did with Stevie Franchise... He loves defense first players, so he should love Beverly, Ariza, and what about Howard? A defensive big man.... Does he try to talk him into staying? He also loved to force feed Yao even though he turned the ball over a lot, because JVG love the highest %shot. Would be bring back Shane Battier as a assistant coach.. Would he slow the game down? and how would Harden feel about that??

Personally I'm ready for some serious change. JVG might be what the doctor ordered.

JVG not wanting to come here? No surprise. My bet is once the dust settles our choices will be fewer and fewer (Thibs to MIN, Brooks, to WAS, Walton to LAL). At this point, since the team is in rebuild mode, I'd prefer a no-name head coach. Someone trying to make their name... someone like Ollie, or (thinking further outside) Smart. Wouldn't be surprised if Alexander is already begging Sampson to return.

Whoever comes will be thinking five years. They have to, since this is a total rebuild.

I would welcome Mike Malone. He knows how to handle cancerous players. He coached rondo, gay, cousins, and many more Sac misfits into a very decent record. True story

LOL that Ollie and Smart are "no names"... while neither has NBA experience, they could pretty much hold out for the best possible job/situation (which this is not) before leaving their extremely cushy college programs.

If an established/respected coach (college included) actually wants to come in and clean up this mess... you give him the job and never look back. This is not a great situation by any means... its border-line toxic, from the owner down to the best player.

I would welcome JVG. As flawed as he is, his heart has stayed with the Rockets team ever since he came. He might still be bitter about the departure (who wouldn't? Getting fired is one thing, but to claim that he didn't want to be back and owner/FO had no other choice?), he never stopped caring and supporting the team.

We complained so much about non-existing sense of responsibility and pi$$-poor defense, JVG is our man to fix that. We (including myself) were not fond of his offense, but we also have to consider how limited option(s) he had. When only 3 players from starting line up scored in a playoff game, you can't blame the coach for being not creative.

IF he's not coming, what about David Blatt?

JVG offense was better than what we are seeing out there.

It's been like this since Adleman left. Rick inserted the best offense ever... Outside of the Hakeem days...
