I see Atlanta as the main option. Boston second.

Sources: Rockets contacting teams about trading Dwight Howard

The Houston Rockets have started contacting teams about trading eight-time All-Star Dwight Howard, league sources told The Vertical.

Howard, 30, plans to exercise an opt-out in his contract this summer to become an unrestricted free agent, and uncertainty surrounding the commitment both sides are willing to make has pushed Houston general manager Daryl Morey toward seeking potential trades on the market, league sources said.

The NBA’s trade deadline is Feb. 18.

The Rockets are working with Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, on possible destinations, league executives told The Vertical.

Howard is believed to be seeking a maximum contract extension in July.

The Rockets have struggled to a 27-28 start to the season, including a 116-113 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.

Upon leaving the Los Angeles Lakers in 2013, Howard signed a four-year, $88 million contract with the Rockets. The deal included a player option for the 2016-17 season.

Too bad they could not make it work. But it is what it is. I'll rip his face off the front of the building if they let me.

I thought we'd keep him...but JB made a comment about players needing to agree to get with the program or not, and if not, the team would go in a different direction with them..I guess that was Dwight?

    Unfortunate, but necessary.

What a season. What a season, indeed...

May improve his shooting, we'll see. But as I said, all of his strengths on offense collide with Harden's and make this an extremely bad fit. Next to Harden, the last thing you want is an ISO-heavy PG that demands the ball and has a suspectable shot.
Would rather have a 3rd tier 3&d guard next to Harden.

No. It doesn't matter coz it won't happen.
    BUT

THIS IS NOT NEW NEWS. IT's just that WOJ reports it.

We have had multiple sources saying that Morrey was calling around the league to see his value.
Then we had Cyber pretty much confirm that Fegan was gauging his value for his next contract.

If anything is new here is that now Fegan and Morrey are cooperating which probably means that Dwight TURNED DOWN Morreys' offer of 20 per.

Would be surprised if we get Horford for Howard. The Hawks want to blow it up and go young.

What a nightmare. If Dwight goes, I wish him the best. Our downfall was not his fault.

Trading Howard to a team he is willing to re-sign with, will get us MUCH better assets then trading him to a team he won't re-sign with.

Howard was the first star to sign with Houston in a long time, Howard has been good to us. Howard already has image issues, the last thing he needs is to bolt another team in free agency like he did with the Lakers. If Howard is traded, its going to be to a team he re-sign's with. Morey would be a total ******* to trade Howard as a rental to a team he doesn't want to be on.

    My money is on Bulls/Celtics/Heat.

U know Morey won't take a long term contract back.

Name some possible centers with contracts expiring and team with picks.

This is terrible. So stupid on our part. I have been a Morey supporter through this all, but this might be his downfall.
