Would have thought Avery Bradley would play.... Who would have thought before the protests began.

From teams that weren't going to contend. This happens all the time in a normal NBA season, the league has always had a problem incentivizing guys on non-contenders not to shift their focus to the next season.

With perhaps one exception (Bradley), virtually every key player on a contender is set to play.

Just curious, do you think they'll be able to finish the season?

Most likely. My general opinion is that people are underestimating the initial risk and overestimating the long-term risk. There's a lot of useful info that we're getting from the NWSL and MLS bubbles.

What's becoming clear is that the biggest danger is the introductory period, and players/staff potentially bringing in COVID from their home markets (they don't initially test positive due to incubation period). Both the NWSL and MLS had a team drop out for that reason. The good news for the NBA is that their protocols are more stringent, i.e. two days and two negative tests before entering instead of just one day and one test. But they still need to do everything they can to minimize contact those first few days, in case something still slips through.

I think the long-term risk of "Disney workers coming in from outside the bubble" is slightly overblown — the vast majority of those folks aren't going anywhere near the players. They're also wearing masks, and MLS was able to get the workers' union to agree to a testing protocol. So I'm sure the NBA can, as well. To this point, both the NWSL and MLS haven't really had big problems, aside from a couple teams who brought in cases from their home markets. NWSL is actually 10 days into their games, now, and more than two weeks in the "bubble." So far, so good.

It's not without risk, but IMO, if they start as scheduled, I think there's a good chance they will finish. The period that needs to be closely watched is next week, once everyone is in the bubble and we see if any "homegrown" cases slip past the protocol.

He probably included the players with Covid-19 who could resume practice after 2 weeks and rehabilitation.

Any info on who contracted it since Thabo didn't go into it, Cat?

So far as we know, the positive rate among players is around 8-9%, which is quite close to the percentage of the general population. However, players are 100% tested, whereas the general population is far from that.

We'll see when stars and important role players had it and came back, whether they have the full lung capacity to play 40 minutes night in and night out.

What a ****ed up country. We’re running out of tests for the general population but we’ve got enough for daily testing of people playing a game.

@BimaThug -- is Tyson Chandler still on the roster? ESPN does not show him.

If not, Center is very thin.
