I truly do not mind it, this has been unchartered waters, health should come first.

Double the Offense, half the Defense!
    Just for the time being.

How the hell did AD, Lillard and Westbrook get invited to this call but not James Harden???

And don’t tell me they invited him but Harden declined because all the strip clubs are closed, we know damn well Harden ain’t doing **** right now. He would gladly have joined that video call.

Maybe they can tweek the rule a bit. Draw a semi-circle 12 ft from the basket. In half-court situations, only three defensive players can be outside of the semi-circle. No offensive players can enter it. No screening allowed. That will eliminate a lot of contacts.

    Small ball will rule!

I guess I’m confused as to what the protocol becomes then.

Quarantine that player. But others who test negative can play? What if that player is Giannis, Lebron, or Harden?

What if one team has 4+ positives? They wouldn’t have enough players.

Sigh. At this point it’s all about the money.

Harden has never been part of PA process nor is he vocal on league matters much. nobody has really heard much from him during these last two months if at all. I don't think it matters much anyway. certainly, not to the level of getting offended. whoever wanted to be part of it, did so.

    Few things:

1.) It's always about the money. Always has been, always will be.

2.) I don't understand the argument of "What if the player is [insert superstar here]?" That's just bad luck for that team. Last year's NBA championship was probably decided when two future Hall of Famers each left the playoffs early with serious injuries. It happens. The Rockets most likely lost the 2018 title because CP couldn't play. Again, it happens.

3.) They're not going to keep playing, no matter what. If you're talking about a scenario where close to half of a team tests positive, then you're probably looking at serious "community spread" within the bubble, and the odds would be extremely high that other teams would have several positives, too. At that point, they'd either suspend or cancel the season.

What they're saying is that a few extremely isolated cases (which they think they'd catch very early on through daily testing) shouldn't be enough to immediately scrap it all. They're not saying that they're just going to play on, no matter what.

I know it's always been about the money. It's just so much more transparent at this point that is it is saddening.

I don't think it is the same as injuries during the course of a game/practice. Those injuries are inherit to playing the sport itself.

If a major star simply get a positive Covid test, is basically asymptomatic and barred from playing; the majority of the NBA fanbase and media sphere will go ballistic. And honestly, the question is probably when not if.

But that's my point. Tests are not going to positive on the first day you contract the virus. So others will be exposed. Basically the only way to wall off a few isolated cases is to also self-quarantine those with close contact to the person who is positive. As soon as you do that, the list of quarantined players grows.

If you say, "we will only quarantine the ones with positive test". Some of those who had been exposed before that positive test will eventually also test positive.

Unless Nike/Under Armor develops some new sports-grade face shield/mask that doesn't prevent breathing in but optimally catches droplets breathing out, and all athletes are forced to wear at all times while competing.

A positive test leading to an automatic quarantine is inherit to life with COVID-19, even though most people will be completely fine. Unless we want to scrap sports for years, it's just something we've all got to deal with.

The one NBA case study we have is Gobert, and literally one person among his teammates, coaches, and support staff tested positive. No one tested positive among the team that played against him literally a day before he began showing symptoms (meaning he almost certainly had the virus during that prior game). And that was with extremely minimal precautions in place.

There's a lot we still don't know about the virus and the exact conditions under which it's most transmissible. You might be right. But I think it's worth trying before we agree to shut down sports for years.

I don't know enough to know whether your statement is true or not. But that's the issue--the reliability of the test in detecting early infection.

One positive player in a game will very likely infect multiple players. Basketball is a contact heavy sport, not to mention the frequency of touching the same ball with 9 other people on the court, and the need for wiping sweat from one's face. So if we cannot be sure every player who plays is negative, then the chances of getting massive community infection among players are very high.

Waiting to the last possible moment sounds a lot more plausible than all these eclipsed deadlines we keep hearing about.

    PERK! :D

"Harden was not on the call. I found it strange. We're talking about James Harden, in the MVP conversation over the last 3-4 years, leading the league in scoring, face of Adidas, probably gonna go down as one of greatest 2 guards. He's a superstar and his voice/opinion matters. He should have been on that phone conversation. Did Chris Paul leave James out intentionally?"

Harden don’t like all the extra stuff he is just about playing and partying when he can. He’s never been someone to do these calls
