Funny, we thought that about the former big Sowjet brother Russia and they are catching up.

I think there are hot spots and sometimes smaller countries get away rather mildy if they are being smart, and others it didn't strike hard.

Because there won't be a cure for the foreseeable future, the possibility of new exponential eruption of cases is always there.

ya a small country like switzerland w/ 8.5M has 30k cases and 1800 deaths, and then we have all these similar sized neighboring euro countries w/ tiny fractions of those case/death numbers. maybe it all eventually evens out after lockdowns are lifted, and like you say, with the possibility of subsequent waves, a couple years from now death percentages end up being more or less similar everywhere

That's the first vote for the Belarus strategy I've ever seen.

I'm going to guess at the end of the day, denial and vodka, while more palatable, will probably not work. The denial countries like Iran have paid a heavy price, though obviously they suppress their body counts.

not a vote, but an observation. in the same discussion in subsequent posts, mentioned that eastern europe has the same #'s as belarus across the board, with or without tight preventive measures. could be a less lethal strain in those parts, idk

Could be. Could also be the same thing that keeps North Korean case counts at zero.

vast chasm between NK and the body of eastern european countries in term of transparency and reporting in general. pertaining to this situation specifically, eastern euro countries also have a giant incentive to report any covid deaths in order to justify lockdowns to their people. so i take their data as being pretty accurate

Belgium also has gone out of it's way to track any death possibly from covid whereas Belarus has not.

Since you started with Belarus, aka "Europe's last dictatorship" , though actually there's at least 2 now as of late, is there some graceful pivot to Slovakia or Slovenia you're planning? Sounds like a good use of time.

this is true, they've made it a point to include nursing home deaths for instance. but a few things still stand out... 1) belarus has indeed reported 22k cases, and if they were going to fudge something that would be where to start, since it's a lot easier to hide cases than dead bodies 2) the difference in deaths between belgium and belarus even if one was drastically underreporting and the other was counting everything possible -- is still HUGE 3) again, belarus' numbers are in line w/ the rest of eastern europe

belarus' numbers and slovakia's or slovenia's are statistically the same -- hopefully you understand this for the 4th time?

There were 38800 US deaths from driving in 2019. https://www.nsc.org/road-safety/safety-topics/fatality-estimates
Total miles driven in US in 2019 was 3.32 trillion miles. https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10315
That is 1 road fatality for every 116 million miles driven.

Tell me again how likely it is for a person to die driving back and forth to the arena say even 100 times?

Also, you never told Bobrek where your sourced your numbers.

No I don't understand why ****ing authoritarian shithole Belarus is even relevant in any discussion about resumption of NBA basketball or purported COVID19 risk

I ain't no virologist or epidemiologist but I'm pretty ****ing sure real deal ones are not sittingaround waiting for the next batch of numbers to come in from the Ministry of Information in Minsk.

In fact it's more likely they're watching Raquel, Raquel directors cut.

Btw your pivot kind of sucked.

and i don't quite understand why a ****ing partisan shill's politicizing BS is even relevant in any discussion about resumption of NBA basketball or purported COVID19 risk in the GARM

as usual you add zero to any discussion, constantly scheming to try and find any possible angle to promote your political view while at the same time doing it w/ your whiny ****ing napoleon complex on full display

^^^ let the record show that counsel's posts continue to consistently add absolutely nothing of relevance to the discussion. mods should move for a dismissal from this forum, as should rodge cohen move for a dismissal of this diminutive twit from sully & crommy.
