He is one of these cases where there is no 'smoking gun' to write him off and enough measurable things to cling on to potential.

He looks lost on the field. Straight bull rush with no direction. Today he was being cover by the tight end a lot of the time while on the field.

He reminds me of Mario, but makes even less plays. I really hope the injuries are to blame, and the light comes on next season.

    We wish he was Mario.

Mario has 10 sacks this year. Nothing similar about the two.

He's talking about rookie Mario, who sucked.

Clowney looks terrible, he doesn't have any explosion and very poor effort. I too hope it's injuries, but he has been invisible thus far.

I don't think he could possibly play any worse. I'd be extremely surprised if he even comes close to living up to his hype. The dude is a dud and looks like an athlete pretending to be a football player...he's fooled everyone and got his check...

Yeah, I meant a guy that has all the physical tools, but doesn't appear to have the drive or focus to routinely dominate games.

Hate to give a guy like Merril Hoge credit but his analysis of Clowney being a great athlete but bad football player seem kind of accurate so far. Can't just rely on athleticism at the NFL level.

He had a couple nice plays today, but really, he just doesnt have the moves to be a consistent pass rusher...If he played like Mario, our defense would be unbelievable. Those comparisons need to stop.

Apparently Tom Brady is the only one capable of running this offense. It would be nice to run what the Eagles are running and making mark sanchez look good.

    whoops wrong thread.

Two things about Clowney, first this defense is not made for him. He is not going to be a stand up 3-4 olb ever. It's unnatural for him and to be honest this defense would be better suited to a 4-3. Second, he's injured and hopefully that's the case because this production is that of a bust.

He's played 2.5 games and has gone against joe Thomas and Andrew Whitworth. Both are 2 of the best left tackles in the game. Watt didn't really do much as a rookie until the 2nd half of the season and the playoffs and Mario had 5 sacks as a rookie. He will get better.

Ask Pancakes, if he says he's a bust then we may have something pretty special.

At least somebody's optimistic; the dude looks like crap to me...and doesn't look like he's even cares after his first effort is stopped. That doesn't look like lack of experience, it looks a lot like a lack of effort. He's not going to be crap in this league with that kind of attitude. Don't even get me started on missing 6+ games because of a knee injury caused because he 'stepped wrong' in his first pro game. Right now he's got 'you were duped, Texans!' written all over him.
