His health? NFL is a violent sport without fully guaranteed contracts. He should do what ever is necessary for him to maximize his earning potential.

So they are reporting that Clowney/Cush are still not declared out?

Playing with an illness will not injure his potential to maximize his long term value. Not playing with an illness after taking longer than expected to recover from a knee injury will, however. The perception of someone being a diva, especially before they've ever done anything in the league, will go a long way.

Didn't Rap also blow that Andre Johnson thing out of proportion saying he won't play for the Texans this season?

Not playing due to "illness" is bull****. Clowney needs to get his self entitled ass on the field and play. I gave him the benefit of the doubt with the knee injury. And if that's what's still ailing him that's another thing. But "illness" is inexcusable. If it ain't AIDS, Ebola, or cancer then suit your soft ass up and play.

I mean, this illness started a few days ago...at this point, he may be a little under the weather, but not to the point where he can't play.

I'd rather the injury report be accurate..."sprained vagina" seems more suitable.

he's probably using the illness as an excuse because his knee is achy.

The illness is known as called jamarcusrusellitis, it's very common in #1 picks.

Doctors say the illness can lead to the lack of passion for football. Their still looking for a medical cure but usually it's all psychological.

People questioned Mario's heart and determination but he played every game in his first season with plantar fasciitis. Gives you a little perspective now.

Knee surgery is knee surgery but an arthroscopic procedure for a meniscus tear is the least invasive and obstructive surgery they can do.

I've had it done on both knees at different times and I was walking around in a few days and back to full activity in 2 weeks. The doctors urge a very aggressive return to full activity. Most of us don't have any rehab help which I'm sure Clowney did have.

THAT is why the team and so many people are annoyed. He is a very young professional athlete and he is taking a longer than average amount of time to return from an injury that most NFL athletes recover from in a month. Two extra missed games is A LOT in the NFL.

Since drafted by the Texans, Clowney has missed team activities/pre-season/regular season games for:

    Hernia
    Concussion (or concussion symptoms)
    meniscus tear
Stomach Virus or maybe flu but nothing confirmed but "illness"

Drafting him was the right decision but this sure isn't what we had in mind. I hope this guy turns things around and we can all look back and laugh at this when he is winning sack titles.

Pretty much this. Everyone's frustrated, understandably, but talk of "bust" is way premature. All we can do is hope he gets his head/body/**** together.

In this day/age, with social media and 24/7 reporting, the players are increasingly image/reputation conscious.

Thus, I do expect Clowney to get some deserved bashing (especially if the Texans D gets shredded today), and he will have to put up/shut up soon enough.

I would expect there to be some choice words printed out and taped in his locker during the bye week.

When did he get sick? If it's a cold he really should be feeling better in 2-3 days, enough to play. Not even limited snaps? Wonder who's call it was to sit out. Probably Clowneys.

Heard the words "vomiting" and "last night" on espn.

He needs some of Caminiti's fortified Snickers bars.

I saw players vomiting on the field against the Steelers.
