not enough salary from us to do that. And that's still too much to take on. I seriously doubt Haywood has positive trade value this close to an injury with such a huge deal.

we'd have to include either EGo or PJ (along w Knight/Chriss) to make the money work... idk how many assets i'd be willing to add to that for a guy coming off injury...

I guess a 1st would be the offset on jettisoning Knights contract...

    You're severely underestimating Brown's talent & potential.

Especially for someone that likes Winslow so much.

Yea didn't think so, maybe also a draft pick or 2, don't know.

If CP3 is irritated with Houston at the end of all these Melo drama, do you (or anyone) reckon he will start to drift away from the team and hence creates another trade scenario?

Hayward was a prime free agent target for us. This is obviously a deal you go for if you don't have to give up a major piece in the rotation

    Agreed

To me this says Harward's injury is worse than reported
Rockets cannot get screwed like Cavs did with I.T.

At a best, it says his recovery will take longer than hoped and the Celts are trying to address the playing time logjam that exists sooner than later because their chemistry is messed up right now.

At worst, Hayward will never fully recover.

IMO, Celts would probably give him away for free if they could. Any team accepting him in a trade should dump trash in return.

I haven’t heard this from anyone

My first thought is Hayward apparently isn’t ever going to be the player he was before. Otherwise Ainge would never float his name.

My second thought was Danny Ainge is almost impossible to deal with, so the chance of this happening is 1%.

For this deal to work the Celtics would have to take Knight (useless) and Chriss (useless) and Gordon (valuable) and Nene for Hayward and Morris.

The Celtics clear Hayward off the cap a year early, they add Gordon on a good contract with a year longer than Morris.

The Rockets address their defense at the 3/4 with Morris and add a third star if Hayward is close to what he was. Hayward is also an underrated switch defender and he fits the Rockets system perfect.

Still can’t see it ever happening. I’m sure the Celtics want Hayward’s deal off their cap believing they can be in play for guys like Giannis and Davis.

He's not back to form by a long shot but I'd probably be down to send them Knight and Chriss and maybe a pick if they're just trying to get out from under his contract.

*edit: Just tried this in trade machine and I'm not sure we can even get there if we give them knight, chriss, nene, carmelo, gerald green and MCW. Which is a relief because I'd hate to include MCW.

You know, it’s funny. Outside of ‘holic, I probably waste more time on this site than anyone. I was off the site for more than four hours and come back to this! HA!

Kinda like the Ryno trade. I somehow managed to go almost a day without my Clutchfans fix. Came back and found we’d traded Ryan, after trying for so long. Crazy.

That’s a lot of contract for the Rockets to add without it being a superstar

That’s not going to be within 120% of his $31 million salary
