Jimmy, just like Kawhi, doesn't want to play with LBJ. That is a circus he doesn't want to be in and the Lakers have too many of the same type of player in Ingram, Ball, Kuzma and LBJ would want all of Jimmy's role. For Jimmy Butler to *opt-in* to his contract for the purposes of a trade (to Houston?) his first step is to make Philly believe he will leave and they will get nothing for him.

Step 1: So, now we have the passive aggressive *Thank You to the City and Teammates* IG post.

 

And now......

Step 2: Make Philly believe that there is a team IN THE EAST that wants Butler. (better do the opt-in and trade so you get something of value for you)

 

A lot of talking from Butler considering how far off free agency is. I’m in team he’s trying to force a trade.

Butler is not coming here. We are far over the cap and he’s a free agent looking for the max. The only way you could get him is a sign and trade with Philly, but they have 0 interest in Capela and Gordon would not net you Butler. They can also just resign him and let Tobias Harris walk.

Underrated factor: Jimmy is a James Harden fan and friend. And, Jimmy has wanted to take more shots his entire career. Where else can you take more shots without anyone counting?
