Every franchise in every pro sport releases ticket sold numbers. That's a sellout...all tickets are sold out.

Yeah my numbers were most likely tickets sold, like you said they changed their attendence announcement during the games. But I went to the rangers game, and it looked full......with rangers fans/bandwagon fans of course. They did have horrible attendence, but what more do you expect from a team that is completely starting over. At less they know when it's time to start over

He might be talking about the number released during the game on the big screen, I believe that number is the amount of people entering the stadium. I remember JD :)() and Bill mentioning this a lot

Actually they report tickets sold there too. Go to the game and you'll see the same number reported there as you will the next morning in the box score.

They do? Oh ok, I thought I remembered the broadcasters saying they announced people entering (tickets scanned). Sorry about that

you dont have to spend a dime on the organization but dont be a bandwagon fan when the astros are back again.

yes, it will take a couple years. you cant turn around a team in baseball like you can in the nfl. but jeff luhnow is one of the best GMs in the league, and he draws some comparisons to daryl morey.

both are huge on analytics, and so far every move luhnow has made so far has been the right one. he has yet to make a bad deal. luhnow knows how to draft and develop talent...heck look at the 2011 WS champion cardinals...that was luhnows team.

And for the record, I laughed when they lost the World Series! I remember my family gathered to watch the game (bunch of bandwagoners) while I was watching a Rockets preseason game in another room. **** the Astros.

That's just what the Astros needed. Another reason to suck

Sorry if you find it difficult to believe. I spoke to multiple sources. I would not have written it for publication or even on this message board were I not certain it was accurate.

It may be dumb, but it is reality in this case.

And the truth is that these deals are complicated, but all parties do have to sign off. I'm sure, were the positions reversed, it very well could have been the Rockets that did this to the Astros.

Wait!! Whoaaaa there mother effer!! :)

I'm not saying you reported something untrue!!! Not what I meant at all. I would NEVER say that about you. I owe you lunch simply for making you think I thought that.

I do not know your sources nor am I asking for you to reveal them.

Ultimately I put the responsibility of bringing the Rockets product to the market on the Houston Rockets. And I have zero expectation that any business is going to do another business a solid and agree to a deal when they think they can get more. I think the people involved in these negotiations are wayyyyyy too sophisticated to let that happen.

I can think of similar issues arising in closing of transactions that we handle for clients...and it's the job of the attorneys to consider those contingencies. If the Rockets seriously went into this not realizing that ultimately they were ceding control of their product to an entirely different organization, ultimately, then shame on them and whoever was assisting them in these negotiations.

You gotta wonder if the Rockets didn't figure that the Alstros would be less obstinate given their current climate.

If the Astros are indeed acting out of rational self interest, then the best way to change their position is to change their incentives. Hit them in their pocket book for holding out-- not later, but right now. Create bad publicity, even a boycott, to negatively impact their ticket sales. After all, fans whose rational self interest is getting TV access to the basketball team at the lowest cost should, rationally speaking, pressure the Astros.
