Well, if anything, he'd finally have a chance at winning a game in Indianapolis before he retires.

smoke screen. Willing to bet orders are from McNair to keep Andre and this is pressure to keep him at a reduced rate.

Given that he was unhappy here last year and wanted out, and nothing has really improved with the franchise's QB situation, I'm not sure why he would be pressured into accepting a lower rate. He *wanted* to be cut last year, so this would be his ideal outcome.

He wanted an extension last year. He wants the most money he can get and here, even with a pay cut, is the highest bidder.

He either wants more money or a chance to win. Staying with the Texans and taking a pay cut seems like the worst of both worlds for next year.

I don't think he ever wanted out. He was unhappy and needed to get management's attention. He did.

Agreed. My money's on him staying here with the same contract.

The hard fact for Andre is he decided to skip workouts and wasn't given the million he lost doing so back. No one will pay him what McNair will. If he wants the most money he can get, he will be back here.

He's gotten paid a lot of money his long career. He hasn't done a lot of winning. Assuming he only has a few years left of productive career, it will be interesting to see which he chooses, given the option for the first time in many years.

Well I agree it will be a choice between getting out of here or getting paid the most, but staying here with the paycut isn't the worst of both worlds. It is getting paid the most.

We will find out how serious Andre is about winning or is it about the money. If he takes the paycut and stays in Houston...it will be only about the money (b/c) he isnt getting a ridiculous amount on the open market with a contender. Dont think Denver will, maybe the Pats but for dirt cheap, maybe Saints, Colts, Seahawks or Arizona...Also the decision has been made...I think the Texans will most likely stick with Foster's contract through next year.

I would hate losing our cities most tenured player and a really classy guy, but he should accept being cut and go latch on with the Patriots or Seahawks...they have the best chance at winning something.

I don't think that's a real priority since we don't really have a QB to throw to one yet.

If the Texans are dead-set on keeping him... a more progessive POV is that he and Hopkins are a combined $18.2MM next year, which is a little easier to swallow.

time to move on. Thanks for the years of service -- you were adequately compensated for them.

    Let's spend the cash elsewhere

The dude has enough money. I'm sure he wants to salvage the years he has left and win something. The Texans are years away from competing and he belongs on a team that is right on the cusp. Denver would be a great place to end up or New England.

He was right to want to leave before this year. He's going to run the risk of being that player that people outside the NFL remember as just a good regular season QB. Nothing to show in the playoffs or Super Bowl.

He deserves it... as much as i want him to be a lifelong Texan, he obviously isnt enjoying being here any longer.
