Why would Portland want Lin when they have Lillard and C.J. McCollum?

 

It would be awesome if the Rockets were able to get their hands on LA, but I'm not sure how this would possibly happen. There is no reason for the Blazers to do this trade. What can we give the Blazers that they don't already have? They have Batum, Lillard and Lopez so they accordingly don't need Parsons, Lin, or Asik

 

There might be a third team involved to make this work. It might not work straight up but if you put in other teams that do need the likes of Parsons, Asik, and Lin then you could have something there.

Bosh could be involved. Asik and other considerations to Miami, Bosh to Portland, LMA to us.

 

Twin towers suck, but at least one tower up at all times (with both up in favorable matchups) makes the team a top third defensive team AT LEAST. I would not trade Asik (at least not this year).

 

CyberX may have proven to us that he has very legit sources BUT....
His source said that we will LOOK at LMA.

So I'm not putting much confidence in us getting LMA at this point. This is not a knock on Cyber or his sources. I completely believe his source, it's just that the source isn't saying that a deal is in the works or anything like that.

All we know is that Morey is going to put a lot of work into getting LMA. It doesn't mean it will materialize. With the Robin Lopez signing, I don't see how Portland feels like this is the right trade to make in their eyes unless they have lost all faith in RoLo. Agreed that Asik is much better than him, but losing LMA for that upgrade doesn't make sense unless they start riggin for wiggins.

Now, if they really have lost faith in RoLo, we still need a backup C. So maybe we can ask for one of these trades:
LMA, RoLo for Asik, Canaan, D-Mo/TJ, Draft picks if we have any (They probably feel they can get more value though)
LMA, RoLo for Asik, Lin, draft Picks (do they really want Lin with Lillard as their future?)

 

There have been a lot of Superstar players who have forced trades before. And I am not dreaming, just entertaining the topic at hand.

i thought the whole twin towers thing was to pump asik's value anyway. start him and give him 30mpg and say all the right things up until the deadline. Then as clutch pointed out, hope a one or more of minny/portland/atlanta/lakers are sucking, and then make the offer for love, LMA, horford, or pau.

 

How good is Aldridge's defense? Haven't watched a complete game of him yet.

I'm sure cyberx has his legit sources, but isn't it rather obvious that the Rockets would love to have Aldridge? Reports were that Portland is not interested in Asik, so indeed it would likely have to be a 3-way trade. Probably a long shot.

 

I would rather get a good PF like Millsap for Asik, and retain the rest of the guys instead of giving up Asik plus Lin, and more for LMA.

I admit I'am reluctant to give up Asik, even though it is hard for Howard and him to play simultaneously.

As long as LMA does not cost us all three players (Asik/Lin/Parons), I am all for trade.
