Could have Foster, XSF, and Brown back healthy. I know it would be painful for the negative Nancy crowd here, but they might have to sit through another Texans win.
Do other QB's not have deflected INTs or drops by WRs? Or do we only credit our QB for those so we can artificially make him look better than everyone else?
Of course they do, and smart people take those into consideration when they are trying to judge a QB's performance. Dropped interceptions is another thing that smart people take into consideration. Either way Mallett still completed 61% of his passes, and that's about what you should expect from him. It's not like Mallett was Teddy Bridgewater bad today and people are making excuses for it.
Keep that kool aid nice and cold. Of course Foster and Brown will help but XSF is another lousy draft pick by Rick Smith
He's injured but conditioning is an issue with him. Doesn't look good but getting him and Brown back will be huge along with Foster. More concerned about Mallett not showing any touch on his passes or the fact that our special teams is MIA still after like...a decade.
It depends on whether you're a Texans fan or a MOF. If you're a MOF, you throw the rest of the team under the bus
How many games did KJ miss in his first two years? What about the two players do you see as similar in any way?
How many were calling KJ a bust after the first 2 years? Calling XSF a bust this early based on injury is knee jerk foolishness.
Most NFL teams are average. There a couple that are better and a couple that are worse. The Texans are average. The Bucs played dumb and that helped but Blue looked good and that was the difference. Both quarterbacks threw poorly, Winston a little worse. 8-8
OP doesn't drink, but is forever an optimist. Its just funny how many people want to believe this team sucks. It doesn't. It's average with a weak schedule. The two yes that beat us are playoff teams. Not saying we could have won those games, but we were in them at the end. I'm just saying that I believe a large part of our rust is from injuries and Hard Knocks. The injured players will be coming back, and we're continually moving further from Hard Knocks. I didn't start the thread to say we're going to win 12 games. I simply said we are a .500 or slightly better team. Just what most thought we were. I'm saying that most people are in panic mode after the first two games. I'm not. This team showed great improvement in its flaws from the first two games. That is progress. There's not reason to expect we'll get worse. We're not getting Goff, barring a trade or him falling. And Atlanta beat up on a Dallas team that is worse off than us. With that, they didn't beat them by a ton. I'm not scared of them. Matt Ryan will get his, but we'll be okay. It'll be a tight game.
I thought Mallet looked fine today. He appears to be getting better at making short passes. They kept at the running game which was good to see as well. But make no mistake: they played a bad Bucs team with a rookie QB making his third NFL start. The Bucs defense made numerous mistakes and committed some boneheaded defensive penalties. Plus their kicker muffed away 7 points. It was great to get a win but a better test looms next week at Atlanta. I expected to see an ugly game and was not disappointed. With Indy struggling, they do have a chance so it'll be a week by week thing with this team. I still see only one playoff team coming out of this division and it could very well come down to the Texans and the Colts.
Clowney appears inches away from making BIG plays...he was bringing the heat when Winston got intercepted. He seems to be turning into a "run stopper" already as well... surprising
