I hate lobbyists with a passion.
They'll keep coming back with revisions and more revisions... **** them; they can all rot.

He was arguing against an amendment that would have regulated the way ISPs handle their traffic. He argued in favor of keeping it unregulated by the government and allowing them to charge sites extra for sending lots of traffic through their network.

Cause no one has ever argued over the Al Gore "meme"

Yes, in other words, he was arguing against net neutrality. Just like I said. Which, IMO, is him trying to flubber up the intertoobz. You don't see that as bad legislation, I do, so there's no point in arguing over the meme since we fundamentally disagree about the issue at hand.

Whatever but I really don't think you understand.

"him trying to flubber up the intertoobz" would mean he is changing something which he isn't. His argument is "it seems to be working fine, let's not fix what isn't broken". the exact opposite.

sooo... when will bill clinton get involved and set these assholes straight?

Bill Clinton was the only president to invest heavily internet and really really had a firm understanding of what technology did for this nation when it wasn't controlled.

frankly i'll be disappointed if President Clinton isn't on the front lines fighting this tooth and nail to protect his investments and the idea's he put in school systems across america during his tenure in the oval office.

Clinton Is The Man for This

Seriously? Arguing that the "series of tubes" speech was a legitimate analogy?

    pfffffft.

I have a fear that the "War on Pirates" is going to be this generation's "War on Drugs"...yet another incredible waste and abuse of federal powers.

couple that with the fact that we're not even damn close to actually ending that waste, well, it's not a sunny outlook.

Well, under the guise of child p*rn, who's going to argue that. This is just out of control. I surely hope the tech giants rally to stop this one but this being filed under child p*rn prevention will be poisonous to touch. Good job Lamar, you must be proud.

These freaks in government are all sell outs. Don't see Obama vetoing this one either.

Chris Dodd shoots himself in the foot. (Well, both feet now - as Greenwald noted he's already made a hypocritical fool of himself, now he sinks a bit further...)

They're all bought and paid for. This system is a joke.

Greenwald understands the lesson behind the megaupload shut-down quite well...

There are only two ways this plays out:
    1) Wait until the government one by one strips away liberties like they are doing now.
    2) Begin an underground extremist movement that targets and assassinates corrupt government officials... leading to "emergency" martial law; security measures; PATRIOT ACT 2.0; etc.

    Either way we lose.
Maybe we'll stumble upon an Andrew Jackson-esque president that just completely defies congress and spites corrupt officials in everything they do, even if only to serve his/her self interest.

While I agree with the SOPA stuff, the megaupload thing has gotten a bad rap - this is normal widely accepted practice of how law enforcement works. If you run a meth lab, a sweatshop, a ponzi scheme, or whatever else and the government arrests you, they shut down the accused practice immediately, and then they try you in court. It's really no different here than any of those scenarios. I don't think anyone thinks that the government should let a meth lab or sweatshop or whatever else continue in operation until the owner goes through the full legal progress.

The rich and politically connected operate under a different set of laws.
