Over half (5) their prospects with ceilings projected as platoon/utility or better are in majors or been in majors at some point this season.
I am curious. I thought part of throwing $40M at Yuli was a crack at his brother. Did we even have a shot? from what I read the Blue Jays signed him to a 7yr 22M deal. Was he not worth that to us?
I see that Moncada has roughly 45 strike outs in 100 at bats........ Would you rather have Andrew Benintendi or Kyle Tucker all things considered?
Benintendi and I wouldn't think twice. He is a proven player. We know he can handle MLB pitching. Right now he is an average starter, but still could develop into a star. I thought Moncada was overrated. A lot like Buxton, he has the physical tools to be really good, but he is a high risk guy. Still plenty young enough to become something though.
As terrible as he has been, he still walks a ton an has an OPS over .700 in the 2nd half. Judge built such a massive cushion in the race that he'll be unanimous still. It is a fierce competition for 2nd though.
Judge struck out 42 times in 95 PAs during his cup of coffee last year......... If we had Benintendi, we don't sign Aoki, then we don't trade Aoki, then we don't watch Fisher tank, then we don't sign Cameron Maybin. So I vote Tucker.
Suddenly being a proven player means something more than potential? Yet ppl were willing to send Bregman for a pitcher over Tucker... interesting Not you in particular, just saying ppl in general
Moncada was even worse last season. Judge is so interesting because it really came out of nowhere. Some people I'm sure.. It is one thing to want to hang onto a prospect in a trade for a veteran, because age, control, and cost factor in, but when you compare 2 guys of similar in those regards, you are going to take the one you know is good, especially on a contending club.
For as much grief as Buxton has received, he's been a good player this year. Still can't hit well, but Buxton is where doubles go to die.
Sort of the Andrelton Simmons of CF (or just somewhere between Kevin Pillar and Kevin Kiermaier). He's been on fire since coming off the DL (.325/.366/.610). When I looked today I was surprised his OPS had creeped over .700, the last I had checked it was under .600.
Besides for the defensive value, he gets a ton of value on the bases (2nd) despite not being on them very much (199th, >100 PA). His talents (speed and defense) don't age the best, but I could see him having a Michael Bourn (performance versus peers, not raw numbers) like career.
