I don’t know anything about that bill or the Dem bill...

but you storm in here accusing the Dem of playing politic. Perhaps that’s the effect that the GOP wants - iow, politic. Perhaps not.

Either way - would be better if you debate about the content of the bills, imo.

The point wasn't about the content. The point was about the discussion so that the next proposed bill had the accepted content. They chose to walk away because they don't want a partisan bill. Then they don't get a 'win'. If they propose a bill that address the concerns WITHOUT adding their standard add-ins for Planned Parenthood funding or whatever, BS they inevitable try to sneak in, I will be surprised, impressed, and glad.

The CHAZ or CHOP was a microcosm of what happens when law enforcement is forced out of the equation suddenly.
Defunding them will force alternative ways of funding but the transition will likely have socially detrimental effects.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the city tackles crime.

quit legitimizing white nationalists, engaging in racist rhetoric, lying compulsively, tell the country to believe in science, stop calling people names on twitter like 5 year olds. It took me four seconds to come up with those basic steps to begin to restore some dignity to the Office of the Presidency. Healing the nation requires effective leadership. Effective leadership at any level, including the highest office in the country, requires basic characteristics like character and credibility, at a bare minimum and as just the start. And yes, we are that basic a level because that’s how far down Trump has dragged this country.

    Really?
I thought it was about fixing law enforcement and other social justice issues.

Those are excellent areas to work on. How do you do it when you have different views, and productive discussions are made more difficult because leadership is a mess and insists on enflaming and antagonizing, and doing everything possible to polarize the two sides to the greatest extent possible.

yup, we need to put the focus on substantive areas, but a ton of bandwidth is devoted to dealing with stupidity from the highest office in the land.

if your answer is that lawmakers should just press on despite trump...well, on one hand, that’s true. On the other hand, think about how backward and idiotic that is...that the government must attempt to move forward despite the president and navigate the obstacles that he constantly throws up. He is a damn liability that the country must carry on our backs.
