So the thread on Madonna got me thinking about this - she has now bleached her eyebrows. She is not the first person to do this - St. Vincent was on Colbert for a week this past summer and she had eyebrows bleached. I really don't get the appeal of this other than to look like some kind of zombie or something. Can anyone explain to me why this would be something that any normal, rational human would want to do?
i think the no eyebrow look is much cooler... but some people just look cool no matter what they do with their eyebrows...
Then there's Microblading, which is essentially old-school tattooing of your eyebrows, and committing to a certain style of eyebrow for life. Lady I know said it was the most painful thing she's ever experienced. Women.
Literally saw billboards with very bold statements about sensitive parts of the body like that last time I was in the north part of Dallas. 'Have you had your vag tightened?' (paraphrasing but close) If any city would take that billboard seriously, it would be Dallas.
I guess another reason why I feel this is so stupid is the "uncanny valley" phenomenon. Sorta like why people don't like clowns - their minds tell them that the person is somewhat normal but they have this painted face on with this creepy smile and as a result, something doesn't seem right. Or how about those realistic Japanese androids? So yea creepy - looks like a regular person but when you get up close, there's something off...no eyebrows!!
