Just one game, I like that quote from James. This team will have a great chance to steal game 2. Keep playing through the BS calls and limit career nights from guys that have not done much in the playoffs for the Warriors. The Rockets have time to get it right.
Great thread OP. While some people are crying about the little things we could have done to win the game let's not forget that GS made many mistakes too, we made them look vulnerable, we've found a soft spot. This wasn't the lack of competition that had been unanimously predicted, the Warriors know this series won't be as easy as Skip Bayless has predicted*. We made Klay Thompson look very average. Our MVP made us proud. Steph Curry made some unbelievable shots. Golden State did as predicted. The Houston Rockets lost the game but little by little they are turning the haters. Again, great post. Repped. *Did anyone hear the Bayless comment about how the true Rockets team was represented in their 3 losses to the Clips -- instead of their 4 wins? Mathematically that doesn't even make sense. It was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard from someone getting paid to commentate on sports in the history of sports commentary.
Yesterday game proves this will be a very good series. GSW know they left with a lucky win and HOU knows what adjustments they need to make to beat this team. Couple observations • Officiating o 3 big officiating mistakes that cannot possibly keep going GSW way. Moving screens: GSW used plenty of illegal moving screens Green pushing/pulling/all hands on Dwight Harden slammed on drives o I hope officiating does not continue to go this way. GSW like to constantly trip during screens and I just don’t see the refs continuing to allow them to do that. The only reason small ball worked for GSW was because Rockets couldn’t take advantage of the size advantage in the 2nd. This was due to Howard constantly being fouled by green. As soon as I saw Green foul Howard for the 3rd consecutive time I knew Howard was going to lose his cool and pick up his 3rd foul. Can’t blame Howard though if the refs are going to let Green ride on Dwight like he is part of the rodeo they should also allow Howard to defend himself. If still don’t understand why McHale did not use a sub after the 3rd non call and just hammered Green to show the refs we are not taking it. Instead Howard got his 3rd and had to come out. Also disappointed in lack of timeout by coach. I understand that he wanted the team to mature and get out of their own funk however since we lost by so little you wonder what a timeout to adjust would of yielded for us. Finally Harden was completely hammered during the 1st half so he had to adjust to shooting in 2nd half. You would wonder what would of happened to momentum GSW had if harden was able to drive and get calls. o During the famous 11-0 run GSW did in 4th quarter there were plenty of questionable calls Green flopping and then holding Ariza not allowing him to get up Over the back on Barnes… I guess they are not called anymore but just wanted to throw that out there. Tjones was fouled under the basket Curry pushed off to hit a 3. Look Curry is a superstar so he can get away with slap off’s like Harden and LBJ however that was a clear push off. Nevertheless even with this bad officiating the Rockets showed allot of heart to keep coming back. They made some mistakes which they can adjust to for next game. • Terry was horrendous in offense. Not able to hit wide open shots in the offensive end. Factor in though I think he did a decent job in the defensive end trying to keep up with Curry so that probably caused his offensive side to slack. Decent in defensive end but not good. He is a veteran and he will make veteran plays to try to gain an advantage. Once he is beat he pushes the other player to try to throw off their shot. Problem is he keeps getting caught. • Brewer did not come out strong on defensive end. Brewer is the only one with the speed and length to stop Livingston however he didn’t do much. Livingston was the real reason GSW came up in 2nd qtr. I don’t count Green as the reason GSW came back in 2nd qtr because he did so by not getting calls for hammering Dwight so no props to him. • Howard – Insider Drew says he is out for season so that’s god news to us because that means he will continue to play. As you all know Insider Drew is wrong 100% of the time. Hopeful that it is just a bruise and he can recover by Thursday. Howard dominated the paint and got Bogut out of the game. This is to our advantage people… don’t mind the fact that Green was helped out by the refs when they went small as that will not continue to happen through series. If Howard is not back dominating the paint and getting their bigs in foul trouble that could be a problem for us. I fear big GSW and I don’t fear small GSW. • McHale does this to us over and over again. The first few games he is always slow to adjust but then he surprises us goes through in game adjustments like if he was Popovich. Only thing I saw wrong with this game was his 1st half adjustments. I don’t think he did enough to adjust to the 2nd qtr GSW run. At the end of the day this game was winnable. It showed allot of our strengths as well as showed gaps we need to fill. Key is to make the adjustments we need pronto so we can take home court advantage. Refs will be refs. Hopefully we get some in our favor like GSW got theirs yesterday but we can win this series if coach and players can correct their mistakes.
I totally noticed this as well... It also made Harden hesitant in the 2nd and 3rd he would pass and then hear a whistle on a play in which he would have normally shot. This could have been at least 6 fts, which was the difference in the game. Refs need to call it the same both ways
Kudos to Flop for creating this video We can report this to the NBA. Follow these instructions. First as soon as we start making noise I guarantee NBA will demand this video to be taken down. Enter the following message: Please review these missed calls. Link can be found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVkzTr-op7U Some Key misses: 1. Harden could not get any calls on his drives throughout the game. I am shocked he only shot 6 free throws considering how aggressive he was the entire game. It should have easily been a 40 point night for him. 2. The third quarter had the most moving screens for the Warriors. 3. I am surprised not one moving screen call was made in the entire game. This definitely favors the Warriors considering the splash brothers are better than everyone in the NBA at shooting off the dribble. 4. Bogut grabs and hooks Dwight every chance he gets when going for rebounds. 5. There were hardly any bad calls against the Warriors. Maybe a couple of times where the Rockets were touching the Warriors on their back when they shot a layup in transition, but 1/2 went in. They did the same to Brewer except they would go for his hip rather than his back which is less noticeable. I noticed more contact on Josh Smith and other Rockets drives in transition which I didn't add. Jones looked like he fouled Curry on that three at the end of the game, but it came after a blatant push off which sent Corey Brewer flying. 6. I left out a lot more (non)calls against the Rockets because they were hard to notice without me pointing them out and I did not want to seem biased. 7. Specifically in the 2nd qtr A. There appeared to be one moving screen on Dwight in the 2nd quarter, but when you see the reverse angle showing how Bogut picked up a foul on Josh Smith it shows Harrison Barnes was grabbing Dwight's arm on the roll while shading him to make it look like a moving screen. He was trying to get Dwight in early foul trouble. B. Draymond Green fell back onto Howard's left knee in the 2nd quarter. I added it. Also, added some extras in the 2nd Q showing how they got some calls that we didn't. C. The Rockets started the 2nd quarter 31-24. They committed their 5th team foul at the 6:19 mark of the quarter. The FT difference was 7-2 in favor of the Warriors. The Warriors finished the half with the momentum up by 3 points. D. The only reason we did not crush them on the boards when they went small is because they would tuck, grab, and push Howard out of position.
Great thread OP. Seems some people on this board expect absolute perfection and anything less is failure. I understand fandom and being passionate about your team, and yes people (including myself) have and will say things during and immediately after the game out of emotion (such as cursing a player for a turnover/badshot/bad defense/etc.) But after some time to let things settle, those feelings go away and we can get back to being normal. This team is what unites most of us here, Win or Lose. Success or Failure. Ride or Die.
A coworker just came in and started giving me a hard time about the game last night. Still not mad. Feels good, man.
Last night I watched the game at a bar with Dallas-fan hecklers trolling Houston fans (more evidence that Mavs fans are douchebags). It didn't bother me as much as it might have otherwise. Because I was proud of the fight I saw in our guys. If we end up losing this series, and that's a big IF, I wouldn't mind so much as long as every loss is played by our guys with as much effort as I saw last night. McHale did alright in the first game. I think he's already set a trend during previous series now. That he's slow to make the right adjustments, but then something clicks just at the right moment and it seems like everything comes together. I fully expect the same thing in this series. The Warriors are beatable. They know it. And I don't think they're mentally prepared to face it. Advantage: Houston. Both my brain and my heart tells me that Houston takes this series. But whether they do or not, they're making us proud.
They're doing it again! Just when we all started to get a little down, they kicked it into gear in the second quarter. Man, the Warriors seem so beatable.
We should be better than GSW.... We actually lack 2 quality players... and we will fill the void in the offseason or at the deadline
Whatever happens this series the harden haters cant say **** anymore. Both our STARS playin big and inspired ball. Glad to know we have Harden.
Despite the ending and now down 0-2, still proud of this team. No quit. Harden, nothing more to say. Two brilliant games. 28, 11 & 9 38, 10 & 9
This was probably the finest game of James Harden's career. Devastated he couldn't get a win out of it.
We lost two nail biter. We blow them out the next two games would be telling. This isn't even close to being over.
Great game for the rockets they played agains GS and the refs proud of Howard, he plays with one leg proud of Harden . MVP game we can win this series
James Harden had the game winning pass to TJ for the game winning dunk-and-1; would have been his 10th assist for a triple double too. He's going to be kicking himself watching the film. It's sad, bc Harden had a brilliant brilliant game and carried the team.
Ah, a thread for adult fans. . . . Thanks OP. This has been a great season, great playoffs, and even these two losses have been pretty great games. I wish we would have won, but I still love the Rockets--all of them--same as always.
Proud but we can beat these guys. Need Smith and Brewer to get hot again and double Curry in Game 3. The refs can't swallow their whistles every game this series especially if James keeps playing aggressive. Hopefully their confidence is still high and they are angry. Need to win 2 at home and then it becomes best of 3 series.
