Mercilus and Foster too. It isn't Foster's fault, but signing an aging, injury prone RB is playing with fire. Kareem may need to be added to the list too. Yeah I mean all teams will overpay some guys. It happens. But the Texans seem oblivious to the risks and keep repeating the mistake
I disagree with Foster and Joseph. i think those were good signings. I think they signed Mercilus when they struck out on OLB in the draft. They gush about Kareem but dude still doesn't turn around. Needs to be playing safety IMO.
Smith should have been let go with Kubiak. He isn't the worst GM in history. The team has made some good street agent pick ups, had some good first round picks and had some good signings. But picks after the first round have been bad over all so the team's depth is weak. There are a number of poor contract decisions. Smith is mediocre at best. If you say he isn't in control of moves, then we won't miss him. Either way it's time to give some one else a chance to be better than the Texans have under Smith.
I don't think anybody wants Casserly back either. It's certainly possible they could hire someone new who is as bad or worse than Smith. I don't think being scared of that possibility is a good reason to keep a GM who has a 73-79 record and 2 playoff wins going on 10 years here.
You know we could be the Dolphins: they have their QB, spent a boatload of cash on their D-line and lost to the Jaguars, got blown out by the Bills, and then to the Jets. The Texans lost to a more complete team who is 4-0.
This. Goes to Church with Uncle Bob and his spawnlings. Is the Godfather to Uncle Bob's son. Goes on vacations with Uncle Bob and son. Has Cbristmas dinner with Uncle Bob and his son. Already got Kubiak fired when he challenged Smith's authority. Rick Smith's best friend? Uncle Bob's son. Rick Smith will leave when he wants to leave.
The Texans could very well lose to all those 3 teams that beat the Dolphins this season. Actually, the Texans may very well lose to the Dolphins if we play them this week.
How exactly this team over-achieved? And what kind of dynasty that Rick built in H-town? Or are you referring to the division banner of "hey we won the division as a place holder because Manning is transferring his throne to Luck"? Everyone thought Wilfork is a good signing? I think At least Bill is LOLing on this.
No one said anything about a dynasty. The team over-achieved a couple of seasons where they performed better than most expected and got more out of players other teams were getting rid of. No one credited the team for the FAs but when they start losing, we all remember Ed Reed and the draft busts. That's all I'm saying. If the coaches deserve credit for success, perhaps they should be to blame for the failures too.
Well it's been about 10 years of Rick Smith's tenure and if they happen to wind up 5-11 or 6-10, then he should be gone. I understand that he has only given the coaches what they wanted but maybe it's time for a GM who's capable of building a team on his own.
Keep going to the games, keep watching them on the TV, keep buying their jerseys, keep following them on social media, keep the app on your smart phone. Until you stop doing these, good ol Bob Mcnair will never fire Ric Smith
