We certainly have enough 2's and 3's (and 4's, I guess) now to look into some sort of deal. Ariza will be a hot commodity with such a contract, and Brewer will have some interest here and there, too. But as J.R. points out, I think this is probably going to be the roster until some of these contracts can be moved (December, January?)
yes, this roster (with terry and hayes) is well balanced and ready to start the season. i expect either jones or dmo to be dealt this season in order to avoid paying both next summer. i also expect a package to include either KJ or brewer or both, since SF is our deepest position. i'd expect an upgrade at PF.
What about that deal where the Rockets were bringing one player from the any of their past rosters? That's still happening, right?
dmo is worth a good amount per year. I'd say $9.5m per year if he produces like he did last year with a couple more boards
That is pretty much it. Last I read, they are negotiating with Harrell (trying to get him to sign closer to the minimum), then I can see Terry and Hayes news to quickly follow.
Roster is set. As always Morey will look around at the deadline. Just hope that OKC and SAC implode so that maybe Durant or Cousins will become available.
I don't think we have enough assets left for a significant move. Maybe at the trade deadline? But that will completely depend on how the season starts off
Morey is looking right now for another upgrade. Going to be predatory from now until roster cutdown for another deal. Don't be surprised if he uses the $1.6 million TPE in the next couple weeks to add a salary (or two or three) that has many posters scratching their heads, followed by an announcement of another trade to be completed 60 days after the TPE was used. Morey is looking for one more player not named Jet or chuckwagon. I changed my signature today and put this line "Jet more likely to be signed-and-traded than signed." in it because I did hear that Jet was agreeable to a sign-and-trade under the right conditions. And that could be huge. We still owe Denver cash. They've got Kostas' non-guaranteed deal they can shovel off to a 3rd team. We could sign Jet and send Denver cash to cover both him and Dorsey's contract. Add a player with the $1.6 million TPE. Sign Jet to a deal around $2.4 million. And add those 2 salaries to Jones and all of a sudden you've got enough salary to really do something.
Yeah. I've thought that was going to happen the last two trade deadlines, but it didn't. It takes two to tango, and no GM wants to be Morey's latest conquest. With that out of the way, the Rockets have one hole left to fill, and I'd love to see them fill it before training camp.
If a trade for a major upgrade at SF or PF doesn't materialize I don't see trading dmo. He'll probably get maxed out given all the money that'll be out there next summer but if the rockets intend to use cap space to chase a FA, DMo on a restricted contract is critical since they can keep him on his comparatively smaller cap hold and exceed to cap after signing a FA if one becomes available to them. DM will do with DMo what he planned to do with Parson and Bosh.
Dunno that yet. We need a third 1. (Not necessarily Jet.) And I'm sure Morey would like to upgrade the bigs one more time.
Deal fell through. Morey, Alexander and McHale (plus all of the Clutchfans posters) couldn't come to a consensus on who to bring back.
Guys, I cannot tell you how excited I am for the upcoming season! I don't even want to mention what could derail a possible magic Rockets season, so here is hoping for that GS Warriors karma that they got plenty of last year, just this time bestowed on our beloved Rockets.
I think McDaniels and Jones are probably going to be shipped off if a good deal comes Houston's way. I don't know that there are any starting caliber PF's on the trade or free agent markets though.
