Some of those guys really need to piss off before we can say we are worthy of anything.

    Nice breakdown.

I think its going to be tough for anyone the Rockets can pick up from free agency to get significant playing time. I believe DM and MDA will give most of these players an opportunity to succeed.

I see the Rockets using a 9 or 10 man rotation looking someone like this:

3 or 4 man guard rotation:
    Eric Gordon - starter
    James Harden - starter

Pat Beverly - off the bench

When James sits Pat will run the point. When Gordon sits it'll be James handling the ball while Pat plays the off guard (pretty much like last season). All above average to excellent 3pt shooters and two good ball handlers. If the Rockets could somehow add another guard that can handle the ball and hit 3 pointers I could see this turning into a 4 man rotation. Could Sergio Llull be a possibility? The Rockets certainly have the cap space if he is willing.

    2 man small forward rotation:
    Trever Ariza - starter

    ?? - off the bench

This is a tough spot. As it stands Ariza is the starter but who comes off of the bench? Brewer? Oh I hope not. I would like to see KJ McDaniels win the job and Brewer traded but time will tell. Alesondro Gentile is another option if the Rockets decide to offer him a contract and bring him over. Sam Dekker will get a chance to prove that he is an NBA player as well. I could also see James Harden getting a few minutes at small forward as well.

4 man power forward / center rotation:
    Donatas Motiejunas - starter
    Clint Capela - starter

Ryan Anderson - off the bench
Michael Beasley - off the bench

DMo's health and Capela's progress is paramount to this unit. Clint will be used exclusively at the center. DMo will likely get just as many minutes at the four as he will at the power forward spot if not more. Although DMo will start at the power forward spot, Anderson and Beasley will split the majority of the minutes there.

So the biggest splash the Rockets made in the offseason, a player which the Rockets paid for 20 mils per, and your plan is to play him off the bench?

    Gordon
    Harden
    Ariza
    Anderson
    DMo

Despite Ariza, this could be the worst defensive lineup of all-time.

i just can't see us having a $20 mil a year player come off the bench. He's less multidimensional than i would have liked; he's more of a specialist, which makes him a questionable starter, but we gave him the money, im sure the expectation is that he'd be on the floor as much as possible.

We just need to do an all out trade for Westbrook and sign him to an extension.

He wouldn't even consider with Pat Bev still on the roster.

Bev would/should be included in any deal if we're going for Westbrook.

Yep and he will continue to get about 30 minutes coming off of the bench and probably play in crunch time. I'm guessing you don't see the value in that.

Coming off of the bench doesn't prevent you from getting 30 minutes a night and being in the game at the end.

Does anyone else find it depressing that Ryan freakin' Anderson is our highest paid player?

And the ridiculous thing is, you claim he is a "specialist" but even his specialty he is just ok at.

He is a career 38% 3 point shooter. In his 8 year career, he has shot over 40% only once.

Don't get me wrong, those are pretty good shooting numbers. And the fact that it is coming from a PF does help to make it more impressive. But I would hardly call 38% a specialist. If you are going to be a specialist at something, to the point of getting paid 20 million dollars a year, you had better be pretty elite at that.

It's just timing. It's not depressing at all.

This team is going to be a lot better than I had hope for a week ago.

    Like these 10:
    Bev
    Harden/Gordon
    Ariza/Beasley/KJ
    Anderson/Harrell
    Capela/DMo

Use the 9-10 mil left too find a quality upgrade at PG or another big.

Throw Brewer, Dekker, Picks, Draft rights to Llull & Gentile, etc too find the other.

Harden, Ariza, Anderson & Capela is a solid 4/5 of a starting unit. Bev, Gordon, Beasley, Harrell, DMo, KJ is one of the best benches in the league, if not the best.

Why do people assume we are going to sign D-Mo and can sign another player for 10 million? That puts us over the tax, not sure Leslie wants to go that route and it's very smart either. Limits Morey's ability to trade during the season..

    1. The tax threshold is 113,000,000.00
    2. Signing another 10 million contract and then signing DMo does not put the Rockets over the tax threshold.
    3. The Rockets operate beyond the salary cap every single year.
    4. The Rockets have made the statement that they want DMo back

Can you verify this with some sort of data? Or, are you a glass-licking helmet wearing douchbag who is just talking out of his ass?

Making the statement they want DMo back and actually ponying up to pay for DMo are not the same thing.

Remember when they made the statement they wanted Parsons back?

I have no reason to think that they won't resign DMo. But a lot can happen in the next 5 days before players can actually sign that can change team's plans. Just ask DeAndre and the Mavs.
