I used to lurk back in the Yao years. The heavy majority of commenters here would call Yao soft or a wussy, and knew the Rockets were not true contenders. Both of which I was in agreement with. So many of you be frontin'.
Some fans throw a temper tantrum if you even slightly reference Lin having any Chinese heritage...because he's "Taiwanese".
Those same posters would also (A) blame our lack of titles on a bad supporting cast rather than Yao, injuries aside of course, and (B) still love Yao as a player. You can be critical of a player, right or wrong, while still supporting him. Just as calling out Harden's lack of defense doesn't mean Rockets fans hate him. If you truly interpret things that fans say out of frustration literally, then you're probably not actually a fan. But just a fair-weathered observer.
I was just joking... but it goes to show you many of the Lin haters are/were YOFs many YOFs dont identify with a guy like Lin because they are not underdogs like the Taiwanese culturally economically etc land size etc etc which they view Lin as a Taiwanese American whose parents were from a renegade province
just to add to this, I hear too many people saying the added weight was bad for Yao. They wanted him to sit outside and shoot 15 footers? Guy was 7'6"! His best years (legit MVP type numbers) was when JVG plopped him down low. Added weight didn't cause him to have bad feet. Playing 365 days a year and being 7'6" did
I get that you were joking. If anything, simply saying Lin is Asian-American as opposed to a born & raised Chinese national explains the difference. Even as a Chinese-American, he would not have the same experiences because he wouldn't have gone through the Chinese Sports Institute. I understand the politics, but Jeremy Lin himself isn't as extreme when it comes to that.
The only real Yao fans and Lin fans are rockets fans. The rockets fans care about the player not the race. You are a fan of nothing except your insecurity so you try to change this thread to the subject you like. We destroyed the yofs , got riid of much of the tofs and the loFs, they shall fall like leaves off a tree. This ain't Taiwan or America . This is clutchfans, a nation of real rockets fans .
