http://www.nba.com/news/slam_dunk_030120.html Amare Stoudemire Richard Jefferson Jason Richardson Desmond Mason
This has the potential to be as good a competition as there has been in a long time. Now if only they will remove that stupid ****ing wheel.
I think it will be a good competition. The Wheel definately has to go. I would love to see the big name stars square off for the dunk title again.
I really like that Stoudemire is in it. In recent years most taller guys have been discouraged from participating.
Big men like Power Fowards and Centers should never be in the dunk contest. Just doesnt work. I mean imagine Yao being CRAZY athletic and in the dunk contest. Amare may be a hard dunking machine but so is Shaq, and I dont want to see him in the contest. What? No Ricky Davis?
The NBA put a "no more than 3 seasons of experience" limit. Ricky Davis has been in the league too long. Stupid NBA, why are they so hell bent on destroying the Dunk contest?
The competition is named "Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk" this year. So it must be only for young rising stars.
I would really love to see Vince and Kobe in this damn contest. But Vince is washed up and everybody hates him cuz he doesnt do the highlight reel dunks anymore. Also I would really love to see Kenyon Martin there too. He is just insane with his power dunks. It would sure be great if all the big name flashy dunkers would be in the contest too!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, just wishfull thinking. It aint gonna happen anywayz.
That should be a good contest. Jefferson can do some flashy stuff, and Mason and Richardson will always impress. Stoudemire should be interesting. Usually the big guys don't fare too well (not since Kemp anyway).
I love that the league has found a way, when no one thought it was possible, to make the Dunk contest consitently crappier each year.
I find it funny how the league frowns on kids coming out early but than rewards them with the slam dunk invitation.
You must have missed Amare Stoudemire in the HS dunk contest. His dunks were easily better than any dunks last year. Through the legs reverse windmill and stuff like that. Amare can win it easily.
It's probably called that because they couldn't get the "good" players, and had to settle with the "others." Instead of calling it "The guys that actually wanted to do it," they called it the "Rising Stars" since they could actually book em.
I think the slam dunk contest has passed it's novelty after MJ and Spud Webb. I don't really care about it any more. Maybe I'm getting old. Acrobatic dunks aren't as exciting as beautifully executed team basketball to me now.
