This comment is half smart and half dumb. It's smart in recognizing that someone among the Rockets players deserves credit, but it's dumb to say that Brooks is the #1 guy that does so-- so much so that he's deserving of 3rd team all NBA selection. There are nights when he wasn't even the best PG on the Rockets. It's been a collective effort from all of the players. Brooks has a ways to go before usurping the more established guys.
I think I read something before the season that predicted Brooks would get too much credit for the grunt work of the players who would be largely responsible for our surprising success. I guess he/she was right.
You know, I thought he was going overboard in naming Brooks the 3rd best PG in the league after Nash and Rondo - but after reading his logic, it's hard to refute. Brooks may not be the 3rd best point guard in the league, but he may well be having the 3rd best season.
Did you read the Aaron bit? Since the Jazz are losing to teams they shouldn't, he gave Aaron the nod over Deron.
Doesnt that list fail if Trevor Ariza gets a mention. Just mentioning it before half of clutchfans will.
They should have just listed the whole Rockets team as 3rd team. (Obviously The Rockets are not the 3rd best team in the NBA, but neither is Brooks the 3rd best PG.) Their justification for listing Brooks would have been more sound applied to the group effort.
It's true. But it's already accomplishing what the writer intended. People are definitely going to talk about this. We're already talking about it. And if it's controversial here, imagine what they're thinking of this in New Orleans and Salt Lake City right now? ha.
When it comes to PGs, First tier: CP3, Deron Williams, Nash, Billups Second tier: Rondo, Parker, Brooks
Yeah, I like his reasoning, but he loses credibility giving Ariza a mention. Not that I dont like Ariza, but Landry has been the go to man come 4th qt. He deserves a mention more than Ariza imo....
Ooh. Billups. Yeah. Denver is playing well. That's the one that even flies in the face of his own argument right there. Also, remember when we drafted Brooks and everybody was pissed? Now somebody just mentioned him as a second tier PG in the same breath as Rajon Rondo and Tony Parker. Two guys who have championship rings. And you know what? None of us are going to argue much. Wow. Daryl Morey is a god.
His defense is amazing and he does everything else well. His shooting needs to improve but he is the man who makes the Celtics work these days. No argument if you were to say Rondo is better than Brooks, which he is. I still think Brooks has the potential to be a top 5 pg in the league.
Brooks might be considered 2nd tier when he's making majority of his shots, but only 4th tier when he doesn't make them. He's on the same level as Lowry. Lowry is a consistent 3rd tier, Brooks is a 2nd/4th tier depending how hot his shooting is.
I belive you and others are forgetting about Kidd. He has been play well this year like always. Second tier for sure. Way too much hate on Brooks on this post from Rockets "fans". He has been palying great and we are winning, let him get some well deserved respect. Plus, he has been picking it up while ariza has been sucking it up.
