I mean, that's happened tons of times already before by now so not sure what you mean here. James Bond is still a white guy in this film, he wasn't shamed out of his role.
Actually, this is true. And it's also why there is great potential for a Black Widow-type movie, set in the Cold War. Just please no ScarJo. I like her as an actress, but she doesn't even come faintly close to being a Russian.
If the simple act of a black woman being cast in a supporting role ruins a movie for you, that's on you, no one else. Others have perfectly enjoyed movies/shows with 100% white casts since time immemorial. My avatar is of Star Wars, I loved that as a kid, most of the cast outside of one guy is white, it never bothered me. I don't think Star Wars is ruined because of SJWs and the leads being a woman and a black guy, I think it ruined itself with oversaturation and poor planning and plotting.
I always thought James Bond was the spy name for 007, at least for hollywood. Anyone could be James Bond - 007 which would be assigned by MI6. Im not sure I like the female version. If its a forced token issue designed to bring in the female crowd, its going to suck.
Well consider that's it's a bit of a tired franchise. It's been running for decades with numerous reboots with new lead actors. And while some installments have been good, they've made a lot of forgettable-to-embarrassing ones as well. Already when they cast Craig, they were trying to evolve the personality of the lead. He was a little grungier, more tortured, and more of a brute. The formula was getting pretty stale, and they had some success tweaking who Bond was. You can think of this as some cheap SJW pandering, but I think there's something to be said about rebooting with a genuinely new personality in the lead that can inspire some interest from the non-aficionados.
I agree SJWs can make a lot of things stupid, like some Netflix shows. But 007 is an agent with a code name iirc. Could be anybody. Doesn’t have to be a dude or white person. I’m so sorry that you’re so persecuted @dachuda86
I'll watch it. Hopefully better than Spectre. I'd say this is a huge risk, but they don't have to create a series with her, as they could always shift to a new Bond, as most aren't really sequels (thought the Craig ones have been). Definitely would have been safer to go with Idris Elba (which obviously they still could for a new Bond), who everyone seemed to be really in on and I think would have been a box office smash.
You are conflating the 1950s made fror TV B&W Casino Royale with the 1967 Peter Sellers Casino Royale.
If the new movie is good then it doesn't matter if 007 is female. If it isn't good, then too bad. There have been less good bond movies before.
Nobody wanted Bond to be a black man. They wanted a great and popular actor to play Bond and he happened to be black. Hollywood creates content for streaming services. You really are a special kind of ignorant.
What epic series of books or films have there been? The constant pandering for quotas instead of merit doesn't seem odd to you? It's more a leftist agenda than race related - Ghostbusters reboot tanked because it sucked, but the narrative would rather blame it on gender. Audiences have no problems with minority heroes , guys like Denzel, and E Murphy and J Chan long before black panther, so why don't the SJW's write their own story with characters that have nothing to do with race, and cast who they want? Who cares what race or gender Bond is, it's a decades old story... yet people spend all their free time relentlessly campaigning for it instead of writing something original. Isn't that conceding defeat to the ~~evil white man~~?

I mean there are tons of options out there for this to even be a question, there have already been plenty of black directors nominated for a bevy of awards and have found success in hollywood. I guess I missed the campaign, I saw a few people think Idris Elba would make a great Bond but that's about it.
No still no one who likes bond actually counts that. You are just being difficult. The only bond movie that is counted, by the franchise, is a james bond flick of that very name and it was made in 2006. The one you refer to was basically what happens when you write a satire and drop a ton of acid.
