People are going to think what they want. It is a very competitive industry with very little oversight and a game with a long history of cheating with little punishment. Yes the Astros cheated. They looked at video to try and steal signs. They looked for every advantage they could find. They looked specifically for employees that could steal signs. They studied pitchers to look for tipping pitches. They had their scouts look for signs etc. They were not alone in that. The Red Sox, Dodgers and Yankees were all caught and prompted the league to send out a letter telling all teams to knock it off. Last year the Brewers were accused of getting signs from centerfield communicated to them. The A’s as well and there were whispers about the Red Sox and Astros. When I worked for the Astros many years ago they talked about a camera. Players did steroids and employees watched bullpen sessions. This isn’t new. The White Sox and Tony LaRussa did it 30 years ago. Logan Morrison currently plays and said he knows for a fact 3-4 teams that do it. The 2018 Red Sox did it. So the Astros were made an example of because Fiers came forward and that opened it up. There are no allegations the Astros did it last year after Cora and Beltran left and the Astros were 9 outs from winning the WS. I don’t know if it is true but supposedly Crane listed to Manfred 8 teams that did the same thing as the Astros. It is also interesting that a non cheater (Fiers) claims the Astros cheating is wrong. The game is full of cheaters... it is part of the game.
Is it a coincidence that Fiers is on a team that happens to be chasing the Astros and without something this happening there was likely no chance they could close the gap? Especially with their resources?
I don't think Fiers being on the A's is any different than him being on the Indians, Mariners, Royals, White Sox, or any other AL team. Sure, he has to likely face the Astros 3-5 times next year, which he probably did take into account before coming forward... but its not like he likely ran this by his upper management and they were all for it because it may help the A's compete in this division. It also likely doesn't hurt the Astros during the tenure that Fiers is with the A's going forward... but maybe 5-7 years down the road, future A's will benefit.
What you people don’t realize is that I understand cheating goes on in baseball, and stealing signs does not bother me whatsoever. What does bother me is Jose Altuve wearing a wire. You can say there’s no proof of that, but I call bullshit
Then you sir are a lost soul. Mostly only Yankee extremist or trolls are still saying this. The source that made this a story turned out to be a fake troll twitter account.
I have two eyes, and I saw his reaction after he hit the homerun off Chapman. Why do you think it makes me sick
You call bullshit that there is no proof? But...there isn't any. It's speculation and an internet rumor. It's much different than the trash cans in 2017 for which there is concrete evidence. I think that Beltran was the driver of all of it and Cora was a lead facilitator. That doesn't excuse any players for participating but I think it's also less likely that it happened last year.
Why would players who are cheating rip off the shirt of a guy they know wears a wire? Don't think they are that dumb.
