http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/britt_robson/10/21/power.rankings/index.html Houston Rockets #13 Given the mandate for Yao Ming to play no more than 24 minutes per game, perpetually underrated coach Rick Adelman has the unenviable task of developing one style that complements Yao's singular presence and another one that compensates for his absence. Houston has the depth to make a go of it, but the enforced discontinuity makes it difficult to sustain advantageous matchups and maximize the sort of killer momentum that spells the difference in at least a handful of games each year. Is Yao worth this discombobulation? Will his fragile feet ultimately make his playing time a moot point? I disagree, I think the signing of Brad Miller gives us complimentary minutes to Yao which enables us to play a consistent style of basketball throughout the game. With or without Yao, we're a half court, inside and out team.
What do you mean by 'inside and out'? I don't see us posting up Miller very often. In fact, I seen us keeping continuity by planning Yao and Miller at the high post for atleast half the time.
I disagree with your disagreement We will get consistent play throughout the game, but not in a half court offense. RA has been saying how even with Yao on the floor, we're going to push the ball and play fast break bball. If the break isn't there, we'll bring it back out, give Yao or Miller a chance to get back, and then run the offense.
13 is good for now. We'll be moving up as the season progresses. This team is better than two years ago, it's just down to them to prove themselves now.
I used to think everyone expected yao to get hurt sometime during a season. Now that he's back on the floor after potential injury-preventive surgery, I think everyone who expects the injury to happen, almost subconsciously hopes he will go down just so that they can sleep better at night and prove the world is square. kind've effed up.
No way the spurs are better than Houston. They're not even better than this team if Yao didnt play. I dont believe Atl is better than us with Yao playing half a game. We should be at least 11, possibly 10 because Portland is definitely not top 6 good, maybe just outside of top 10. Of course this is preseason rankings, i expect us to be well inside top 10 halfway into the season.
