It is a hairline fracture, not a break

I believe he could play, properly taped and medicated

This obviously would never happen and is probably a bad idea on paper and in practice.

BUT. I'll give the OP credit. It's actually a more plausible scenario than I first thought, and just the visual gave me goosebumps. Not gonna happen, probably shouldn't happen, but a vision that's downright thrilling.

Put me in the minority: good thread.

NO... He is a huge investment and you dont take that chance to ruin a career of a GREAT player...

Coming from a guy who was injury prone myself during my days on the college gridiron... no, he gets healthy...

    Dumbest idea EVER.

Even if Yao playing didn't make the fracture worse (which it well might), the guy hasn't worked out or practiced with the team in a week. He'd be winded and limping after a minute or two, and the Lakers would exploit him.

so your willing to take a chance and put a guy in who hasn't practice or anything. Is slow, already hurt, and just maybe the reason we lose. Let Yao sit out. Leave Yao alone. If Yao was to so called play we will lose the game b4 it even starts. Yao being hurt is going to hurt our chances of winning not help.

u know what, the sad thing is: if we can pass the lakers, we will CRASH Denver with Yao (they got matchup issues)

2 home 1 away is different than 1 home 2 way.

besides, we won one away game with Yao

Are you an athletic trainer or doctor? Not trying to be smart-a$$ or anything, but I'm sure the Rockets trainers know when a player can play through an injury or not.

As far as Kevin McHale is concerned, we don't really know what the similarities and differences are between the two injuries. And even if we did, you still need some level of expertise to interpret those differences and similarities and how they apply to Yao.

Paul Pierce played on it last year, Kevin McHale played on it....Yao has played on it...for who knows how long really.

But, follow the doctors advice, if they said he could play, I would bet he would be out there.

If they say he can't he won't....

I would not be SHOCKED to see him if we got to the finals somehow though....that would be nearly 4 weeks rest.

Yeah, we're not winning a championship with this crew. We may be able to beat the Lakers, but probably not the Cavs (without Yao and Dike).

I want to see how far this team can go.

Without Yao and Tracy, this crew will get SOO much playoff experience.

From Hayes, with several playoff games under his belt, to Lowry, with this being his first playoff postseason...

This team will be scary good next year.

Why, so the members here can call him out for not going up strong on a dunk like they did in game 3. It would be symbolic only, probably would hurt the team because the Lakers would go at him knowing he is hurt. The Rox have been motivated enough since he's been out without him coming back and possibly causing a more serious injury.

yes, he can shoot FT's late in games. If he gets injured permanently, then Rockets have cap space when he comes off the books, and Yao will be rememberd as a super tough guy. Everybody wins.

Not as improbable as most think. Athletes can still do amazing things with hairline fractures.

    I don't want Yao playing Game 7.

BUT. If the Rockets do win, I'd really like to see Yao play against the Nuggets, he's the one player they cannot stop.
