I agree with the rest. A team is going to have to come up with a whole lot of stuff before the Astros trade Bagwell. I am not a Red Sox fan so please enlighten me as to what they have to offer for Jeff Bagwell. ------------------ Titan's fanatic!!!! It was the first time the Titans sent an offense to the line of scrimmage with Eddie George in the backfield behind McNair to go with Wycheck at tight end and Carl Pickens, Kevin Dyson and Yancey Thigpen at wide receiver. So many choices, with a full season still ahead. "I think that might be scary for a defense," Dyson said.
Nomar, The Red Sox haven't won the series in what, 80 years? What makes you think they've got this chance to give Bags a ring? I would hate to see Jeff traded to the Sox because then I know that, like Ted Williams, he'd be certain to retire without ever getting a title. I already feel bad for Pedro and Garciaparra. And what makes anyone think that Houston is just going to GIVE Bagwell away to Beantown anyway? Boston has 2 great players - either one I'd take for Bagwell straight up. But after those 2 (and Everett, who we already traded away) it's a pretty talentless team. ------------------ Just noticed your sig. Sounds good to me! If Boston would be willing to give up their star shortstop, I bet Houston would take them up on the offer. But I can't see Duquette pulling that trigger. What i meant was, Bagwell shouldnt resign w/ the Stros. He should go to Boston. i agree w/ Rocket101 and Deancurtis. But Sam, i have to disagree. The Red Sox have one of the best pitching staffs in the game. (including Bullpen, not just starters.) Martinez, best player in the game. Saberhagen, former cy young, coming back next year. Ohka, really good really young pitcher.(extremely impressed by his shutting down the yankees.) Garces, Beck, Lowe, Shourek, Wakefield, Fassero, all solid bullpen. And the Sox are activly pursuing MIKE MUSSINA. finally, the curse. your right. the sox havent won in 80 years. because of the curse. they traded ruth to the yankees. well, i think that resigning bagwell would cancel the curse because they also traded him in an extremely crappy trade. but thats just superstition. basically, bagwell would provide the pitching w/ a much needed source of run support. and about the sig, that was when i was as big of an astros fan as i was redsox fan. but that was before mcclane decided to cut payroll before the new stadium. ------------------ Starting at shortstop, for the Houston Astros, Nomar Garciaparra. or Starting at First Base, for the Boston Red Sox, Jeff Bagwell!!!
Just when I was feeling a little bad about my last post. SuperDave's question was, "Should the Stros resign Bagwell, or take their chances elsewhere?" Not "Wouldn't it be great if the Red Sox could get Bagwell and won the World Series?" SERIOUSLY. Saying Stros fans would be happy for Bagwell to win the Series in Boston is like saying that the Red Sox would be happy to let Pedro go and watch him win the World Series with the Mets. How would you feel if someone threw that idea out there? Bagwell has said his first priority is to remain with the Astros. The Astros want him back. Rumor has it that they are planning on bringing in an established shortstop (Alex Gonzelez) and Mike Hampton last year. That should be enough to convince Bags that the team is serious about contending. He says its not about the $$$. Okay, they all say that. FYI. Red Sox Record 85-77. Record in games other than where Pedro gets the decision 67 - 71. Record for Boston's starting pitching, other than Pedro: 40 - 50. Boston's got 2 players who finished with more than 80 RBI. And Saberhagen's done. He blew out his rotator cuff, missed the entire season, and will be 37 by the time the next one starts. Mussina's more than likely going to end up in Cleveland, Anaheim, or with the Chi Sox. ------------------
