Simple question. Do you think John Kerry should concede now, or should he fight for every last vote, particularly in Ohio?

I'm a Bush voter who hopes Kerry will fight for every vote. That way, after it's proved that he lost, there will be NO DOUBT who won the election for the next 4 years.

I didn't vote (I thought I was still registered but apparently had been expunged) and I think Kerry should concede.

I haven't heard of any major cases of voters being prevented from voting. Unless there is reason to suspect foul play, it shouldn't be contested.

    Concede...

It's not going to happen...But I understand why he is doing what he is doing. He owes it to the big donors (such as Soros) and really to all his supporters to make sure every vote is counted.

    It's your fault.

    Concede.

haven't they said even if they find like 140,000-240,000 votes in Ohio all for Kerry, he still loses? I don't see the point.

The popular vote wasn't even close

I think Gore's challenge of the 2000 election rsiked setting a dangerous precedent that is not healthy for American democracy that I am glad to see the Kerry campaign is not acting along in the best interests of how our president will be viewed country and world-wide. It was a mistake to drag the election process out in 2000 and I commend Kerry for making the difficult decision to put his own interests aside despite an enormous investment of time and money in the best interests of the country.

I agree. I think it was a class move, especially in wake of the general consensus that he would probably fight it out.

Question: Is it better to get the wrong result but do it 'the right way'
    or
to get the right results with a little inconvience?

Question: What if Kerry does win the popular vote in Ohio? I am not holding out hope for this, but it would be interesting if Kerry would later have to un-concede.

That would make 2000 look like a game of patty-cake.

The only reason that I mention it was because Ohio is going to count those 250,000 provisional / absentee votes, regardless of who concedes or not. The Ohio electoral college vote will be then bound by the final popular vote, right?

I repeat that I do not hold any hope for this.

If that happens, in my opinion, it only improves his image. It shows he's gracious in defeat, and he won't have left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

I personally would have been very upset had Gore won in 2000 based on the way he handled the situation, politics aside.

If the roles were reversed during this election, I would have been upset if Bush didn't concede like Kerry did today. Props to Kerry for doing the right thing for the good of the country.

    Agreed.

It's like being down 10 with 21 seconds left and calling a timeout. Not worth wasting everyone's time. (I'm looking at your Van Gundy)

    ;)
