    I suggested a 4 team trade...

Cavs get: CP3, Ariza, Wade (via FA)
Hou get: Kanter, Shumpert, Clipper future 2nd...
    Clippers get: Kyrie, Westbrook
Thunder get: Beverley, Brewer, Clippers 2017 1st Rounder, Cavs 2017 1st rounder

Cavs best 5: Thompson, Lebron, Ariza, Wade, CP3 (Love off the bench)
Clippers Best 5: Jordan, Griffin, Irving, Reddick, Westbrook

These teams become a realistic threat to the Warriors.

Remember Westbrook has got to want to sign wherever he is traded. Other teams might offer more, but he would jet after the year is out. Houston should have a chance at retaining him.

That was also the case when we fleeced them of Harden, though.

Let's really think about it. On what team and offensive system can Russell be Russell?? What team can he realistically go to?

Only two teams will allow Westbrook to be free and flowing. That's Boston and Houston...Imagine we would have upper hand with Harden and MDA.

Don't say Spurs, because Westbrook is not a pop type of player. If the Spurs and warriors are out the running, then that really leaves us and Boston that he wouldn't realistically want to play for and have a chance to win.... But with Harden one of the best players in the NBA and a somewhat competitive roster which would be elite when Westbrook is added I think that puts us over the top for him. He just fits us and MDA system.

    What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure Presti has Morey's number blocked.

We had other teams draft picks, our own draft picks, a bunch of young talent, and a couple of 2nd tier stars, including Lowry and Martin who were the main ingredients in the Harden trade. All we have now is our own future draft picks and Capela. We just aren't in the same situation. We'd been building for that opportunity the way Boston has. We're not in the same place.

No need to. He will sign here after kd leaves for Houston following
his one year at golden state. Then we will have those 2 and resign harden.

    Houston thunder

    Westbrook
    Harden
    Durant
    Harrell
    Capela

Umm yeah? We should at least try.

Also Blake is a FA next year too. One of these guys will be joining a super team somewhere.

Cross out "Thunder" insert "rockets". Cross out "Westbrook" insert "Harden"

This is one of the worst trades I've seen in a while and that's saying a lot for this board. So the thunder trade WB for Beverly brewer and 2 late first round picks? Wow.

Yes, Harden is really our only piece that could entice OKC, but then they'd just be getting Harden for one extra year until the same situation hit them again.

In that light, we have *nothing* to entice them unless it was ten years worth of draft picks. LOL.

How did we get here exactly?

They would do that if he guaranteed he would resign only. It's really up to Westbrook, he's a FA next year and he can pick his own destiny not some gm shopping him for the best offer.
