MJ played in quite a few playoff games as well (179). He never lost one by more than 26, and only lost by 20+ three times in those 179 games. And he never lost an elimination game by 20 or more.
Haha, dis dude is just plain dum. First its "Lebron sucks becuz he had to go get help to win a title, unlike jordan who did it w no help" Now jordan couldnt have won nothin without pippen. Lolol
does it matter goodbug? at least don't get swept when your team is #2 in the conference. that's just sad. trust me, if lebron james wins 2 rings, he'll be considered better by kobe in terms of career by most (not all). his statistics blow kobe out of the water, and by the end of his career, his individual awards will blow kobe's out of the water. it's like if lebron james retired right now, paul pierce isn't better than he is nor is tony parker. # of rings matter, but you also have to look at the body of work. but kobe's fortunate he has the NBA on lock as they will continue to give him lifetime achievement awards. he'll continue be on 1st team all-nba and defense when he has no business being there
Exactly what's dumb about it? You can make solid cases for all of these 10 guys to be above Kobe: Jordan Magic Bird Wilt Russell Kareem Dream Shaq Duncan Big O Dr J Moses And possibly LeBron when he starts winning titles.
That part isn't dumb. The fact that someones legacy can be diminished simply for the fact that he is past his prime is ****ing stupid.
It may be stupid, but it's true. The fact is that legacies are based on what people witnessed, not what the numbers say. That's why no one talks about Elgin Baylor or Jerry West and arguments like Kobe>MJ even exist.
No thats just because people dont know what the hell they talking about.. Every topic I've seen on this thread is debatable with compelling arguments except the MJ vs Kobe talk...
but you can make a solid case for Kobe being above a lot of these guys on this list as well. No one can actually rank these guys except for single category like scoring, rebounds, etc.. the fact that kobe can be in this list is saying a lot. lebron might be there later, but he is not. you never know whats going to happen. AI and Tmac could have been in this list but they are not and never will be.
You can make a solid case for Kobe, but it will be more based about his titles...a team accomplishment...as opposed to on the court impact.
Exactly. His numbers are right there in line with many great (but not elite swingmen). For instance, if you looked at the career averages of Kobe vs. Dominique, you'd have a difficult time figuring out who is who.
Here they are: PTS REB AST STL BLK FG% 3P% FT% teammate_ALL_NBA_selections 24.8 6.7 2.5 1.3 0.6 .461 .319 .811 1 25.3 5.3 4.7 1.5 0.5 .454 .339 .837 9 The last number is the one that really gives it away and is probably the biggest difference between Kobe and Nique. It's worth noting that the one time Wilkins had a teammate who made an All-NBA team (Kevin Willis, 3rd team, 91-92) was a season in which he missed 40 games.
Why was it ruined? tmac and ai could definitely be on there if they were winners. they had the skills.
i think it will be based on his titles yes, but also on his scoring ability, just like several players on that list. his D sucks now as most would say, but it was good for the most part of his career. the guy is going to be top 5 in nba history in scoring, 81-point game, multiple 40+ scoring game behind jordan. something that career stats don't always tell you. Tim Duncan career avg is 20 ppg 11rb 2 blocks, not exactly crazy number that would grant him the title of greatest pf of all time. you might not see how he makes him teammates better.. maybe he doesnt do that by dishing out assists on court, but he certainly pushes his players to the limit. kobe didnt have much talents to begin with (not like a tmac or jordan or lebron), but his worth ethics got himself to this point. i think if kobe came about as a nice non-arrogant kinda guy, people would appreciate his skills more. too bad he's not.
oh, and none of those guys on that list ever had to win games all by themselves. they all had all stars as teammates.
