With all this talk about how great Shipley's is..... who in the Houston area wants to buy a dozen, package, and ship to me? I will cover the cost of the donuts+shipping+labor+extra incentive :)

never had them will probably have to try them next time i am out there but can you even ship donuts like that and have it retain its freshness? i mean i figure something like donuts have a 2-3 day shelf life at most if kept outside and then they will probably get crushed on the shipment over.

ok i spent too much time thinking about this

I sadly managed to go to Shipley's only a handful of times when I lived in Houston. My grandparents lived in Georgia so I was always raised thinking Krispy Kreme was supreme.

Truth is, ever since KK expanded, they've gotten pretty crappy. A few years ago I was driving through Mississippi and stumbled upon a Shipley's. I didn't go in. :(

Keep this in mind Dream34, while there's no Shipley's in S. Fla, a minor consolation is Jaxson's ice cream.

Anyone know what donut shops have Boudin Kolaches around Houston?
I found one place near Bush Airport, but that is about it... anyone know some other places for Boudin Kolaches?

boudin that isn't homemade or from your home state = nasty. You should drive to Lake Charles.

Sundale Donuts off of 242 in The Woodlands gives Shipley's a real run for it's money.

But yes, when it comes to donut chains, Shipley's is second to none.

Glad to see the Shipleys thread back on the front page. :D

I would gladly trade Houston a Jaxsons ice cream site and a great south florida Cuban chain (La Carreta) for a Shipleys and player to be named later (that player would be Ninfas)...

Man I really miss Shipleys... I still can taste those fresh glazed beauty's...

Just curious - Where did your grandparents live in GA? I was raised in Augusta...

Why did Krispy Kreme ever leave Houston? I personally prefer them over Shipley, but they still make good donuts.

    Not enough market share?

I thought Houston was fat enough to support them all. ;)

(I have zero room to talk.)
