We have Shipley's in the DFW... but not as good as the store in Houston on North Main @ Walton.

Christy's Donuts on W.Gray/Montrosse is the best in Houston. Krispy Kreme is terrible. That's why they failed in Houston. Shipley's is good and I can't wait for Dunkin Donuts to come back.

Shipley's is ok, but Krispy Kreme was just on another level... It's probably for the best they left Houston as the diabetes rate would probably be triple what it is now.

I don't think I've ever actually had a Dunkin Donut.

I get the feeling national chain donuts are inherently worse because they have to scrimp and get cheaper ingredients or otherwise streamline the baking process. Only because there can't possibly be any real profit in donut sales (a snack pastry that most people try to only eat during breakfast).

During my forgotten year at UT, I always liked shooting over from Contessa dorm over to Ken's Donuts late at 10:00 or 11:00 am at night.

Is there a such thing as 10 AM at night?

I had no clue Shipley's was only in Houston. I love Shipleys and have never been to Dunkin Donuts ever. Dunkin Donuts has never even been an option...I don't even remember seeing one on my side of town...it's kinda like 7-11....popular across the country....except here.

I would say across the world. We used to get Dunkin Donuts in Saudi, heck they even have a Krispy Kreme in Saudi now...

Not even close. Best by a chain, maybe.

My favorite kolaches are at Prasek's Smokehouse in Hillje. The best kolaches are found in small town bakeries. There's also a good place in La Grange, but I never remember the name of it.
