There's some juicy stuff in there, most obviously about the beef between Shaq and Kobe. We had always known that the feud took a turn for the worse during the 2003-04 season, but we never before knew what caused it. Now we have some insight. Here's Shaq, on the Kobe feud: On Young Kobe, braggart and tattletale: On Pat Riley:
At this point I'm not sure what is fact and what is fiction. Why don't they just take this and make a movie about it already
I never understood the level of Jim Gray hate. I understand the hate, but not the level of it. Shaq, he was just doing his job.
Was the level of hatred venomous? If so, it was too much. I can't remember. But the guy did have that quality that made you not want to like him.
Definitely true. I don't know the details of the relationship with Shaq, but it seems like for Shaq specifically the Kobe interview was a turning point. But that was Jim's job at that point in time. Then thinking about the whole Pete Rose thing. I never really thought that interview was in real bad taste. It's his job to ask meaningful questions. In hindsight, it seems even less "malicious", as Rose admitted the cheating, ostensibly in an attempt to in some way profit (i.e. be forgiven for his sin by virtue of admitting to it) from the admission. In either case, I'm sure Shaq's book will be an entertaining read.
Well Kobe did grow up/spend part of his youth in Philly and ended up in the Bel air area just like WILL SMITH <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/hBe0VCso0qs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I didn't know that toe injury was that serious but it is an auto-bio. At the end of the day, Kobe still won more championships. Did he say anything about LeBron?
That's what I was thinking as well. If Kobe was willing to talk candidly about the feud between the two, does Gray have to pursue it?
The ink spot on their legacy that will never be forgotten. The egos that destroyed a dynasty. Win a ring for the King, but the King bailed his Kingdom, so Shaq did as well. Shaq would be right if he said Lebron was a more talented player, but he would also be right if he said Kobe helped him win more rings.
