Well Kobe had an all-time great Center to play with and one of the greatest coaches ever. No wonder he has a few rings, it'd be a complete failure if he didn't.
Please... Please... Please... Explain that quote... Because Harden is no where near Kobe from a basketball perspective... Maybe being an A-hole perspective... T_Man
Here is what Kobe said of Shaq: Harden isn't a great leader - right now. But to use Shaq as the voice of leadership - a guy that Kobe called lazy. I mean, dude, where is your cred. The only one reaching is you. Shaq needed Kobe and Phil to win. He need Riley and Wade to win. Harden doesn't have a partner and he doesn't have a great coach. So I cut him some slack. Maybe you should as well. You are turning on Harden, why? Because some kid compared him to Hakeem, now you are going to make Harden your biggest enemy all because you are mad that someone compared him to Hakeem. You suck as a fan. You are ruining this board. Best thing would be for you to go away awhile and chill for a bit.
A leader is expected to lead by example and set the precedent. When you come into camp overweight and unfocussed, it sets a bad tone for the season. When you spend a lot of the off season with distractions and b****ing about Curry's MVP or tapping that Khloe Kartrashian ho or constantly talking about your brand and marketing, it sets a bad tone. Harden did not lead by example last off season and it set a pretty good tone for the disastrous campaign we had.
Not completely bashing Harden... seems he'd be fun to hangout with. I don't mind his partying if he's performing on the court. Good call on the body language and interaction. Shaq wasn't known for defense, but he was easily adequate. Kobe's heart was never questioned.
And you cry like a baby when someone brings up a post you made a couple of years ago! What a hypocrite.
Dude, I am not going to get into this with you. Fact is you are using a lazy player who came to camp out of shape to call out Harden on leadership. You're a rotten fan and should go root for the Lakers.
Shaq was way better at defense than Harden. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. I agree with tinman. As for laziness, everyone is lazy compared to Kobe. Shaq's teams were successful everywhere he went. He was a two way player.
i want to thank you for bumping the post count on this thread. that's your role in all of this. that's your purpose
He's trolling dude. He's not that stupid to think Shaq was a worse defensive player than Harden. He's one of these dudes who sees a tinman thread and jumps on it like qbert.
Kobe would call nearly anyone lazy. Kobe was an egomaniac who despises any teammates who don't share his same approach to the game. I'm not a fan of Shaq, but it's always Kobe's comments that I take with the biggest grain of salt. Shaq is an entertainer, Kobe is a megalomaniac.
Shaq was lazy and Kobe and Phil said that. Fact is he showed up to camp overweight - for him to call out Harden who spends far more time at the gym than Shaq did is ridiculous. Shaq was successful because he was a freak, because he had Kobe or Wade, and because he had Phil or Riley. Before Phil came that team kept getting swept out of the playoffs. Harden has his issues, and could be a better leader for sure. But it's a bit ridiculous of a pile-on when you use Shaq to be the one calling the kettle black. But let's be fair - Harden doesn't have a great coach and he doesn't have a great number 2. And Shaq was not the number 1 guy in Miami, and he was not the number 1 guy in L.A. - and that's why he got traded.
Shaq was a great player....... but he wasn't an especially great leader. Shaq didn't travel with the team a lot of the time, he was late for practice... he would show up to training camp 30 pounds over weight and out of shape. Ultimately all this crap about "leadership" depends on whether your team wins or not. Kobe Bryant would be viewed as absolutely toxic if the Lakers had not won titles. Draymond Green is considered a leader and not selfish because the Warriors have won 140 games the last two seasons. Tim Duncan was considered meek and not a great leader until the Spurs got over the Lakers hump. If the Rockets win a lot, and Harden is their best player, he will be considered a leader. The issue with the Rockets isn't James Harden or his leadership. The problem with the Rockets is a complete lack of chemistry and CULTURE within the organization. The problem rests on the shoulders of a lot of people.
