    Shane is already a cool nickname, one of the great movie heros. I await the Toyota Center rocking with all in attendance standing on their feet and howling SSHHAAANNEEE, like the kid at the end of the movie.

    When your nickname is Shane, and you are very cool, strong, couragous, rich, and can NBA ball good enough to make the World Championship team, Shane is all the nickname you need.

    They call him "Citizen Shane" in Memphis.

    (Incidentally, Brian Cardinal's nickname at Purdue was "Citizen Pain".)

    In Houston, he will be such a great glue guy, he's not even gonna have his own nickname. Instead, in the fashion of "TomKat" "Brangelina" and "Bennifer", the combo of Battier and TMac will have the collective nickname of "Trattier"

    I remember reading Nickelodeon magazine one time couple years ago, and it had an interview of shane battier, and he said that his nickname is candy cane, because he is so sweet...
