So since Shane Battier will be visiting China for the future week (July 9 ~ 15), let me create a dedicated thread to cover his activities here in China. I'll try to cover his daily activities with photos as detail as possibly I can.

    http://sports.jschina.com.cn/gb/jsc...1ai1534370.html

It was known that Shane will visit 5 cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen and Quanzhou.

His activities in Beijing will include a press conference, and then a fans gathering at the new Beijing Olympia Stadium....the Bird Nest, and some golfing.

He will also be visiting Yao Ming's home in Shanghai, and have the chance to taste some Shanghainese cusine prepared by Big Yao's Mom for him.

In Shanghai, he will also be appearing on a very popular Chinese variety show on TV.

He will then be in Ningbo, visiting the Bayi Rockets, the CBA champions, and be meeting the "War God" Liu Yudong, the first generation official spokesperson of China Peak Group.

He will then fly Xiamen to be Guest of Honor for China Peak Group's national sales summit, and held a fans gathering there.

Finally before leaving China, as interested as Shane is in religion/Buddhism, he will visit the Southern Shaolin Temple at Quanzhou.

LOL !!! Looks like Shane's China visit started with a twist in it.....

    http://nba.sports.tom.com/2007-07-09/0F7K/27646193.html

He was supposed to arrive this afternoon (July 9) around 15:00pm into Beijing.

But when his air plane was about 300 kilometers away from Beijing, the air plane got caught in very strong turbulence and for safety reason, his plane was forced landing in Shijiazhuang instead. He will have to sit on the plane and wait for the weather to turn better, before continuing his trip to Beijing.

Probably the press conference originally scheduled at 17:00pm had to be postponed to about 20:00pm or later.

So does that mean almost certainly he will stay in Rox? If so, that's great!

So after got stranded by bad weather in Shijiazhuang for more than 7 hours, Shane Battier finally arrived Beijing around 22:00pm last night.

All his fans and press/media waited there at the airport for his arrival and gave him a roaring welcome.

But he was too tired that China Peak Group decided to postpone the press conference to 15:00pm this afternoon (July 10th).

I'm not sure whether the following link can show you the commercial Shane Battier did for China Peak Group. It was all done in Mandarin with Chinese subtitles, and Shane Battier needs no script except in the final scene, he said "I can play" in English !!

i'm glad they played "ROKIT" by Herbie Hancock in the background.
They use to play it back in the era where legends unfolded their battles at a place called, The Summit!

I never know Battier is that popular in China. It's a little weird to me.

We should send this thread to Artest.

In China, every Yao's teammate is a superstar, ronron's album could go platinum. :p

With the cheap labor in china, artists can easily buy fans. Of course you have to pay extra for those signs and the signs with lights.
