Shane and Ronald named to "All-Defensive Second Team"!!!

A list with Kobe ahead of Shane and Ron is laughable... but i do agree Ron's defense has slipped a bit this year.

 

his chasing blocks alone earns him a place in all defensive team imo, they are of great strategic value that the opponents have to change their way of running fastbreaks

 

I wasn't expecting Shane to make first team because of the time he missed early in the year. Then I read this and see that KG, a guy who hasn't played much during the last part of the season, made the team.

Getting Hi-lite blocks shouldn't earn you defensives awards.....that's what the f*ucking Emmies are for.

How can Dwight Howard get Defensive player of the year and he's biggest rival at his positions OWNS him. It's easy defending 6'9 centers. Now when Ben Wallace was getting them....atleast he gave Yao fits.

LeBron first team? Wow....really. Now he can play good defense but deserves to be ahead of Shane and Ron Ron? Hi-Lite reels really work huh?
That's why Dwight is soooo much better than Yao because ESPN says so and of course he dunks on fools and slings balls in the crowd (Bill Russell rolls over in his grave everytime he does that) Because he's on sport center more and the beat writers sees it....he's better than Yao

Great to hear that but let me ask you something?

Does KG really deserve it? He was injured a lot and he is now. It is damn unbelivable.
Does Kobe deserve it? Really, for me he took a step back from last year.

Dwight and LeBron deserve it, but other players are OVERRATED. CP3 is a flopper! Shane or Ron should have been on the 1st team.

IT IS OVERRATED. NBA still hates on Rockets.

i dont think the players are voted based on their defense alone, as silly as that sounds. all the players on the first team are great scorers too, and them being able to excel at both offense and defense attract those votes.

It's ironic that both Shane and Ron can get recognized despite missing significant time from the team this year but Yao who played almost all of the season can't get enough votes. It just doesn't make sense. Anyway I'm glad both Shane and Ron managed to get some recognition at least.

KG and Kobe as first teamers is a joke.

 

The defensive team is being a bigger joke year by year. How the hell did Tayshaun Prince almost make it? He's the most overrated defender in the league right now right next to Kobe Bryant.

Yao Ming should have been to the All-Defensive 2nd team too. This award is all reputation, it's too bad Yao's defense turned around at the wrong part of the season.

And It's too bad their own coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

His defense was all-defensive worthy in the 2nd half of the season. Oddly, people don't look at it enough.

Looks like Yao is still the most underrated defensive center in the league. Since Przybilla had more votes than Yao.

 

This Defensive 1st and 2nd team are overrated. When people think of Shane and Ron, what do they think of?? A defensive player right?? What about Kobe?? Nope. They think of him as an overall best player, not necessarily a great defensive player..they never ever mention him as a great defender. He's not specialized in defending. But he gets the vote anyway based on popularity imo. Ron and Shane should be 1st team.

 

IMO, we have FOUR top 10 defenders on our team: Yao, Hayes, Arest, and Battier... If only we had a great defender at the point, we'd be really scary.

 

Hayes will never get into the all-defensive team because he doesn't have enough reputation in the NBA. We all know he's an elite post defender in the NBA but that's fine. I just wish Yao got into the 2nd defensive team. This award is starting to become a joke.

I remember LeBron/Cavs fans use to complain that LeBron actually has great defense, and the award is just like the gold glove award. I bet you guys anything right now they aren't saying that anymore since LeBron is finally in. This award truly is a joke.

 

agreed. This award is about the top super stars having a incredible steal playing the passing lane and getting a sick dunk or running and catching somebody from behind and slapping off the glass. Most players that lead their team or league in scoring don't play defense the entire game with maximum effort because they carry two much of the scoring load. So players that all they do is play defense aren't appreciated.
