"Educate". And you somehow think your opinion is more valid than mine, am i right?

Defense wins championships. Everyone knows that. Does Love provide us defense?

I'd trade anyone on this team other than harden for Love.

Anybody who wouldn't is just utterly foolish. Harden and Love would be literally unstoppable.

Please, any team that gives up 0 second chance points(see Asik/Love frontline) is going to be at least mediocre defensively. They're offense would make up for whatever you want to complain about defensively.

Asik? Asik will likely be gone in order to acquire Love, along with Parsons and possibly even Patterson. In other words, all of our frontcourt defense. Good luck with that.

Worth it, role players are replaceable if you can get a star like Love you do it.

Let's talk about Kevin Love and defense. Here are some things to consider:

    1. Defensive rebounding is part of defense.

    2. One of the biggest criticisms of Kevin Love is that he "doesn't play defense" but that's not actually the case. Love likes to do this thing where he goads his man into shooting and then right as the shot goes up, he will zoom over to where it will end up. "Where it will end up, BeeBeard?" Why yes. He can predict a carom before it even happens. Before a shot even hits the rim, Kevin Love is moving to where it will go once it hits the rim. A lot of other players are only able to that once the ball makes contact with the rim, but not Love. He will read a shot the moment it leaves a player's hand. I've seen the man do it, it's really amazing. This is the secret to Kevin Love's rebounding ability: strength and good fundamentals, of course, but also great predicative ability.

    3. Now, that's great and all, but here's where the problems start: To Kevin Love, somebody missing a shot followed by Kevin Love getting the rebound, is the best possible outcome for the man they call Kevin Love. It puts a smile on his face. Kevin Love craves rebounds. They are his food. They are his oxygen. Now that's all fine and good for Love, but what about his team? There is a valid argument to be made that a player should be trying to block his own man's shot or strip him down low (Kevin Love will try to do either randomly but not consistently) or basically just aggressively try to force the miss. So the argument goes, Love should be more committed to maintaing a defensive spot on the floor in front of his man and would be aggressively trying to make his opponent miss instead of cheating on defense while he already tries to beat others to the new spot where the shot will probably end up so he can get a possible rebound. In so many words, the criticism is that Love cares more about the rebound than contesting the shot.

    4. But this is who Kevin Love is. A disinterested hand in someone's face followed by his zipping to a new spot on the floor is about what one should expect when Kevin Love defends a player shooting an outside shot.

    5. Does this make him a bad defender? No, but it does make him someone who is so eager to grab a board that he will occasionally neglect his defensive duties for the sake of doing so.

    6. All of that considered, Kevin Love's gift for rebounding the basketball MORE than makes up for his occasional half-assing on the defensive side of the ball in the way described above, in the same sense that James Harden's gift for scoring the ball makes it easier to forgive his taking a possession off on the other side of the court.

Because young legit 7 foot centers that play excellent D are so easy to replace, right guys?

It's not forgiveable, it doesn't make up for it at all. It's just something we have to live with, regarding Harden's defense. That's his problem he doesn't want to play D, his problem that he doesn't want to elevate his game to be a true superstar who plays both ends of the floor.

And we can't have two players who cares more about how they do on one end of the floor (or rebounds) than the other. It's just not gonna work. We NEED more DEFENSE on this team. In Love's case, he's not going to get into his opponent's mind that he's going to shut him down, put pressure on his every move by instead going for the rebound. They'll see this and exploit it every way they can, especially in the playoffs where he has never been.

All in all, what would you rather have?

    A top 3 defensive center
A PF with B+ offense and A- defense
    Parsons+filler

    or

A PF with A offense and C defense

Kevin Love is far from a star.

Star players win games. Kevin Love loses around 75% of his games. But hey he does grab a lot of rebounds while getting his butt kicked night in and night out.

People should not be so impressed with players padding their stats on a horrible team.

The r****ded ricksmith is missing the point. Love is not available until 2015, so to trade for him we will lose both asik and a promising young player like parsons. Now josh smith will be a free agent this summer so we have a chance of signing him without losing any of our core players.

This is not about love or smith or black or white players, it is about smith + asik >>>> klove + scrub. Ricksmith can't even understand the logic yet he wants to educate other posters which is stupid

I don't know what to tell you if you don't consider a PF who can give you 18ppg on 46-47% FG a very decent offensive PF.

Josh smith is not a guy i'd ever feel comfortable with taking the last shot of the game.

No, but I'd feel comfortable with him getting the game winning block.
