He is arguably the best PF in the game right now and he is probably the youngest of the elite PFs. Him, Harden, Parsons, Lin and even Asik could easily play together at a high level for the next 8 years.

So getting the best rebounder in the game, who also is the best shooting four once Dirk retires and who is still so young that you can expect his game to grow - well that's probably one of the top 5 players that teams want to add to their roster right now.

Of course everyone on here wants him...

Kevin Love is 24 and averages 14 rebounds per game while still putting up 24 points.. not to mention he was shooting 40% from 3 before his hand injury this season. Does that answer your question to why he's better than 30something Al Jefferson? -__-

You can also ask, is James Harden really that much better than Kevin Martin? They both score, they both get to the line, Harden passes better, but Martin shoots better. I mean, surely, one isn't worth 2 extra lottery picks, another 1st rounder, and a 2nd rounder, right?

In addition to the myriad of good reasons listed above, there's always drama coming out of Minny about how Love is dissatisfied and feels like he's being disrespected there. Thus there's a lot of intrigue when it looks like we might have a shot at grabbing a guy who for all intents and purposes should be locked in to be a franchise player that retires in Minny. Guys like Love aren't supposed to become available unless they are coach killers/franchise deadweights because of attitude.

Rockets are not getting Love without giving up Harden. This forum is so delusional...

If you think Josh Smith is an elite player you play way to much NBA2K.

How many people grab 10+ rebounds and shoot close to 40% from 3pt range? Seriously, how many people in history can say that? Not a lot, especially with the volume of 3's he takes.

Aside from that, he's decent at other stuff. The fact that he can draw a PF or C out to the 3pt line (freeing the inside up for Harden and Lin) is priceless. The fact that he is an elite rebounder and Asik is also excellent bodes well for a running team.

Don't even get me started on his work ethic. Where he is today compared to where he was 5 years ago shows some serious dedication on his part - in the gym, on the court and in practice.

What on earth is not to like? The only thing Josh Smith excels at is shotblocking. With Jefferson it's post play and rebounding. With Aldridge it's scoring. Love is an excellent scorer and an elite rebounder, while also displaying better work ethic than those 3 guys combined.

My only concern with him is whether he is injury prone - which is not a certainty at this stage, but it is a question mark now.

Love is far better on offense, is the best rebounder in the league, and has much better Offense/Defense differentials. Smith is a very good shot blocker and Aldridge is decent, but that's overblown since defensive positioning is usually more important than actual blocks. Aldridge is also problematic because his game is built on long jumpers, the worst shot in basketball.

With Love injured, this offseason may be a good time to buy low on him.

Love has recorded the second highest consecutive double-double streak at 38th. Second only to Moses Malone's 44. He once had a 30/30 game and 4 times he did a 30/20 games. He was the MIP for 2011. He also defeated Durant during the ASG 3 point shooting contest.

All of those means that this man is competitive to the bone.

I agree with the OP. Why do you want Love when we could just get Lebron?

Or, hell. Why settle for Lebron when we could have Jordan in his prime for 2 second rounders, a time machine, and Cole Aldrich?

Actually, that is stupid. Sorry guys. I meant to say that we should get Lebron, Jordan and Wilt for 3 second rounders, Tony Douglas, Clutch, that hot Power Dancer (but not the really hot one - she's untouchable), and Royce White.

It's quite simple really, would rather have Kevin Love because he is better at basketball than they are.
