I know it's been spoken about lots, but if/when trades are made and another player is locked in, that only leaves MLE and the BLE to sign either Sergio or Kostas right? Since both were second round draft choices? Capologist question: Do you only get the exceptions while over the cap AND not currently using an exception? Like, only get the MLE if you don't have another player on one? Same with the BLE?
I don't know about Sergio Llull anymore. That ship might have sailed. In any case, if he looks at our roster, would he see a place for him? Would he take the leap to the NBA from the Euroleague for 16 mpg, maybe, as a backup?
Llull never gonna happen. He wants guarantees to play and money He won't get enough of either. Kostas on the other hand is still young. We will attempt to sign him this summer if he is not too expensive. It won't be for the minimum but a decent 3 year deal for part of the MLE is possible. He is an upgrade over Casspi. A Parsons lite. Nice stashed pickup going into next year. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ZFtOJqjAszg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Liull could be a trade asset to us like Scola to Spurs in the past. Kostus is underperforming in Europe this season.
The MLE (Non-Taxpayer, Taxpayer or Room) can be used every year, regardless of whether it was used the year before. Of course, *which* MLE a team is eligible to use depends on that team's salary cap situation. The Bi-Annual Exception (BAE), as the name suggests, cannot be used in the season immediately following the season in which it is used.
I'd guess that if Llull were to come over it will be no sooner than summer 2015, i.e. when Lin's contract expires. Llull would fit great with how the Rockets (want to) play, but he's in a great situation currently and is unlikely to leave unless he's guaranteed to get major PT in the NBA... and even then he might prefer to stay in Europe. EuroleagueTV put up a feature on him yesterday btw: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/2h1Tl6KPlTM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Jason Friedman appearance at 2:37.
Man he brings excitement to the game I would love him. With that said, that team is having fun and bonded like the Pacers he aint goin nowhere.
Llull hit the game-winner with 0.1 seconds to go in the final of the Spanish Cup today. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/9p71ypQCiL8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Also somehow got this 3 to fall in the semi-final: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/-_aJrcIXe_k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Does Bill Worrell have to learn to scream like the Spanish announcer on Llull made baskets? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Morey mostly thinks of Llull as a trade asset.
His rights will be tragedy because he has no intention on coming to the NBA. He just signed a contract extension last season
As a Maccabi Tel-Aviv fan i know Llull very good. One of the best in Europe this year. Since last year there are lots of talking about him moving to the NBA. This year he is better then last year and in the last game against Maccabi he was superb. Great catch to the team that will get him. p.s you should pronounce his name like YUL
