Are there exceptions for a guy in this situation to be paid or is the team subject to cap room or? BT, do you know?
Llull not subject to any salary scale. He is a 2nd round pick. The scale only works for 1st rounders. The Rockets can pay Llull whatever amount they want as long as they have cap room or exception.
Lowry for Gasol, though I hate to say it, becomes a tad more interesting If Sergio is the real deal Holyfield.
Probably still not nearly interesting enough. Lowry makes way too little and Gasol makes way too much. Scola and Martin I can understand, since both are given "fair market" deals. But Lowry makes ~$6mil the next 2.5 seasons. I think more likely Llul makes KMart more expendable(perhaps to Minnesota). Llul is a pretty big guard and has played a lot of SG from what I understand. Moving KMart and have Lee/Lowry/Llul rotation in the backcourt may not be too much of a downgrade. Especially since Morris if developed properly can make up the offense at the 3.
For forever. That's why Scola didn't come over until he was 27 or something. The Spurs only traded him because Scola was going to re-up with his European team for a long term deal. Llul isn't going to command a ton of money. Probably in the range of what Scola got, which was $9 mil/3yrs. The Rockets just have to beat a European ballclub's offer, not other NBA teams'.
Yep, I agree that Pau definitely would help us to convince him for the next season. For those who didn't see the post and may be interested, just note that I wrote something about his recent situation here. I'm glad it was appreciated. I'll try to write more about him and Donatas.
