...Though I gotta admit, I am intrigued by the possibility of a GOP Congress+Democrat President, it seems to me to be a pretty good working arrangement.
basso...really...I voted for W. I voted for him three times (once for governor and twice for President). Honestly, it did not work out too well. If he had handled the events post-9/11 remotely well, this nation could have been as united as it has been since WW2. He botched it, and we are more fractured than ever.
i thought we were discussing health care? my point was that some form of health care reform has been on the agenda as far back as i can remember, so pining the failure to enact reform on W is a pretty poor argument. and to your point about divisiveness, a large portion of the country seemed to be united in november 2008. not so much now, and i don't think you can reasonably blame that on W, despite his successor's best efforts to do so.
No it isn't a poor argument at all. It may have been on the agenda for several presidents in the past, but it certainly wasn't on W's agenda as far as I know. If you have links that show otherwise I'd love to see them. But even if it were on W's agenda, the fact that it was and he didn't get a single thing done about it would indeed be a failure. Actually, that would pretty much be the definition of failure. In order to prove your wittiness after that poor line of reasoning... Peut-ĂȘtre vous avez besoin de parler français
Just a note to say, "I noticed"! I'm out of D&D these days, and certainly not to derail the thread, but I saw the title and had to take a peek on how you associated The Temptations' Ball of Confusion with a D&D topic. Now to tell Manny that I'll be listening to the Temptations this morning.
W wound up being a very divisive President. You simply cannot argue that he wasn't with any sincerity.
no, you talked about spending in general, and to sit here and talk about spending after supporting everything the last admin did without ever criticizing the spending is beyond ridiculous. on healthcare, bush did enact an entitlement program, presciption drugs, he just did put a plan to pay for it. edit: okay your post was about healthcare but the point stands
thanks, I came into the building yesterday, and there was Melvin Franklin singing O! Holy Night on the system that's part of the lobby christmas display, and it put me in a Beg, Scream, and Shout frame of mind...
"Negative rights" means negative government rights? The writter is giving Obama a heart attack. Urrr, I wish there was a quality measure for things that can be posted here. If you don't understand it, don't post it. Crap load of misconceptions indeed. If the writer is not legally trained, he should stay away from making legal arguments.
As a "black" man.....I have to disagree w/ the author. I don't view this government (or any other) as sympathetic to any interests but their own.
