When I watch Mavs games I feel like Ellis plays within the team's offense more then what Harden does. I'm not sure if it's coaching or what, it seems like he does whatever the hell he wants out there with no repercussion.
Stats says otherwise. Also Ellis is the number 2/3 offensive option on his team, Harden is the clear number 1 which means he will initiate more and take more shots that are more contested. That said, look at his TS% and how he plays. Difference between him and guys like Gay and Melo is that Harden's "bad shots" are mostly from attacking the rim which puts pressure on the defense vs. true ball stoppers who takes horrible contested mid-range shots. His style actually forces the entire defense to react and either foul or leave their man. This is why when you compare him to real "ball stoppers", his TS% and assists per game are always significantly higher.
I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere but I'm not looking through it. How does the injury situation work? Kobe/CP3 will prob miss the game due to injury. Next 2 starters get in by votes, or coaches?
Next 2 starters are by votes, but Lin will decline to play, last year he said if he was votes in he wouldn't play said he wants to earn it
I don't think he'll turn it down this year. Still not consistent enough for legit All-Star level, but better than last year. Either way... getcha popcorn ready!
Lin should play if given the chance. It's not about who's objectively the best. He's a likable, popular player that fans want to see. He'd probably accept this year since he's fully recovered and playing better than last season.
He shouldn't turn it down anymore. He's going against fate, and it's causing the universe to react by taking down all the players before him in votes. Hasn't he watched Final Destination? I place full responsibility on Lin.
I think this is wrong. Aleron just said in another thread that it's by coaches. Oh well, guess that CF War won't happen... yet.
Why should lin decline, it's not the all nba team, it's just a gimmick match which the fans vote on who they want to see, it would be a disservice to his fans and whoever voted him. + he is still more deserving than half the idiots who are going to make it for the east
Yeah man, Kobe, Paul, Beverley... everyone's going down. The divine powers-that-be want to watch their favorite Asian baller play. It's been written in the stars.
I'm right the other guy is wrong, Allstar NBA game starters are voted by FANS, why you think fans vote for the fun of it ? The reserves are voted by the coaches, remember all the controversy last year when coaches didn't pick curry as a reserve?
Is there any evidence of this? Starters, including back-court are voted by the fans. Replacement players are picked by commissioner and then the coach selects which reserves replaces the injured starter. Lopez got picked as the injury replacement to Rondo, but Bosh was picked to start by Spoelstra.
Ok now I see what you guys were saying well it may be a disqualified to move up from van votes just because a player is injured. That's a good question
It's pretty clear how the process works. Based on that, the starters would be D12, Durant, and Griffin in the front-court with Kobe and Paul in the backcourt. If Kobe declines, that doesn't mean Stephen Curry nor Lin get that automatic starter spot. Only way that happens is if they beat out Chris Paul. That's usually been the case.
Kirby and Paul are both gonna miss the game due to injury... but as someone pointed out, it'll be Stern's decision, followed by the coach.
If Kobe still wins as #1 in the back-court in votes, but declines, it's up to the coach to select from the reserves to who he wants to start. This is what happened last year. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/sto...tar-team-replacing-rajon-rondo-boston-celtics http://www.nba.com/2013/news/02/15/bosh-all-star-starter/
