It was hijacked by certain posters who take umbrage to anything they perceive as knocks against their hero.

Deveney grew up a Celtics fan. Boston is his hometown, and he currently lives there. The article was based on info from "league sources" and a GM. If the news came from close to home, we can't dismiss it easily. As we know Morey runs in that circle. So until a Rockets insider can share more info, it remains interesting.

Nope, not even remotely interesting until you can at least fabricate the most far fetched of reasons why Daryl Morey would give away assets to sign and trade for a player that he can sign out right.

Furthermore why would D12 insist on a sign and trade when it does not benefit him in anyway what so ever and would only serve to weaken the roster he is going to spend the next several years with.

Absolutely nothing here but throwing trash against the wall and seeing what sticks.

Read the apology from the editor at the bottom of the article.

The article was based on the old CBA where a player could resign with their team and get the extra year (5 / 117) and be traded. The current CBA doesn't allow that. Max Dwight can get is (4 / 87).

The whole premise of the article was wrong and poorly researched. Do you still give it credence?

As for your desire for insider information on the topic, cyberx has already said "Howard will be signed outright". I guess you believe what you want to and ignore all the facts when they contradict what you want to believe.

He apologised for a scenario presented in an earlier version which was revised. Even if this wasn't fixed, it does not take away from the direct quote by a GM and the info taken from "league sources".

League sources sure sounds like a convenient way of trying to legitimize opinion points.

The revised version just took out all mention that Dwight would want a sign and trade because he could get the extra year. In the section entitled "Why would Houston want the trade?" They inserted "None, really."

The premise of the story is wrong

Doesn't matter if he's saying multiple sources or GMs if the PREMISE is wrong!

The fact is, Houston will not trade Lin and Asik to the Lakers when they can sign Dwight Howard outright.

How can you not understand this?!!

Talking about respect from a lakers fan who is LG's moderator

    http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=160719&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=2300

A lineup of Lin/Harden/Parsons/Jones/Howard (with a decent bench) would be a legit title contender. If Houston gets Howard, they will be really good in year 1 and possibly dominant in year 2 (after they solidify their bench with players ready to ride the bandwagon). Also, in year 2, Miami may no longer be Miami, so the whole league opens up. If Houston gets Dwight, I could see them winning the title in 2015.

Notice how Rudolf talks about James Harden and the best system for Dwight at the start.

The host then says I've spoken to people who are close to Dwight and they have told me his intentions toward Houston are REAL.

Rudolph: For sure their REAL... oh yeah, um... and to all the other teams... they're real too...

The article is based on the inside info, not the trade scenario he presented.

Here is the only line in the article that mentions inside info...

According to league sources, should Howard decide that he's had enough of L.A., the Lakers might be backed into a situation in which a sign-and-trade with Houston is their best option.

Who's going to back Lakers into a situation of a sign and trade?

Howard: NO. He doesn't get the extra year or any extra money so there's no benefit to him.

Rockets: NO. They can sign him outright and keep their assets.

What does our own insider cyberx say? NO. Dwight will be signed outright.

The way the Rockets play is the only thing that worries me he said he didn't like the pace in LA but if he comes to Houston would be change how we play or play the same way that's the only concern I have ..

Yep. That's me trying to paraphrase the intonation and feeling of his words.

But anyone listening to the interview certainly has to come away with the feeling that Rudolf thinks Houston is a great fit for Howard. No denying that.

Let's hope he was speaking with inside information and Howard feels the same way ;)

If Devaney weren't a total hack with zero cred it might be interesting.

    T-Jones
    Howard

    Beverley

Don't forget that the Dodgers suck too. But the Kings made the Western Conference Finals in NHL so there's still hope.
