SEALs call out Obama for trying to politicize their killing of Bin Laden

Cool ya'll ignored the world almost. Anyways what I know about Seal Team 6 is that their missions are so secretive that when a member dies it is always released as a "training incident".

What I meant to say is Navy intelligence did all the work, gave Obama a quick brief, and he signed off on letting the team enter Pakistan. It was never a priority of his, he just lucked out intelligence found him during his term.

 

Do you expect the president to do the recon work himself? It was a priority. He prioritized the search for OBL above all else. No **** he didn't do the recon work himself, that's what you have the Navy for.

Are we going to say its not valid because he didn't don a full SEAL outfit and go in there and kill Bin Laden himself?

Remember how risky something like this would have been for a president. If he fails then he becomes a laughingstock. If he doesn't go ahead, the story leaks, and bin Laden escapes then he becomes a softie. Failing to capture/kill OBL would have cost him his presidency.

Sad thing is Bush did this, the right would be bawling tears of joys and condemning the nazi socialist left for not getting anything done.

If he made the call and there was no OBL, do you know what he would face both internationally and in this country? You make it sound like it was no skin off his back decision. It was not nearly the slam dunk call many think it is, and he is the one who is ultimately responsible for this mission.

 

Seal Team 6 would not have the go-ahead if Obama didn't sign off on it.
The Navy would probably not have found OBL if Obama didn't prioritize it.

Sure he didn't do any of the ACTUAL work (recon, infiltration, assault), but then again which president does? What Obama has done (which is take credit for decisions he has authorized) is nothing compared to the idiotic "mission accomplished" crap Bush did.

Obama celebrated AFTER the job was done.

According to your logic though, Kennedy shouldn't be praised for averting the Cuban Missile Crisis either right?

A majority of his advisors including Military Generals and Gates the Sec. of Defense were against the idea of sending in the SEAL team. There were other decisions to also make about who to tell, what kind if any coordination to work out with Pakistan etc. They also had to decide who else in the US to tell in order to make sure the mission was kept a secret.

To try and not give Obama credit for his part in it is silly and petty.

Obama made the call, it wasn't an easy one, and it was the right one. I would think a majority of Presidents would not have done it that way.

 

If he wasn't there, it would have never made the news. "Blackhawk goes down in training mission".

We have troops all over the world, private and public. Do you think that was the first house we stormed? Doubt it.

If you're a seal team 6 member, it's probably the least of your concern who is getting credit over the killing of Osama.. Also you might want to keep your mouth shut and away from the presses if you want to stay as a secretive operation...

 

You underestimate the power of the media to obtain stories like this.
Leaks happen, it would have been a disaster.

Yes, we have troops storming other country all the time with stealthy helicopters.

 

That's when they're not busy rounding up Obama's domestic enemies and taking their guns away.

Yes, the drones are the same thing as a storm trooper team with stealthy helicopter. Seal team six lost a helicopter and there were witness of the incident.
