.....so boring with his monotonous droning voice. Could tell he was nervous. Basically agreed to most of what Greg Anthony said. No surprise that he said the Bulls would be the team to watch down the stretch of the season. Greg Anthony's choice was the Rockets, said that TMac and Yao haven't played their best basketball yet. Back to Quitten, almost fell asleep listening to him. Some ex-players are naturals behind the mike like Barkley and even Kenny "The Jet" Smith, at this point Quitten looks like when Joe Montana tried the mike, stiff wooden and unsure.
aside from hating him, his voice is just too damn deep to work imo. being monotonous on top of that makes it worse but right off the bat the deepness kills him. still probably better than listening to tim hardaway. whoever ok'd him must've been in on the cynthia cooper hiring.
Many Rocket fans are too bitter and need to move on. Will some fans be whining and calling Scottie Pippen Quitten twenty years from now? Forgive and forget; he's not been a Rocket for nearly six years. It's time to move on.
Lighten up, it's just a nickname, just like Karla. The name just caught on. I was commenting more on his behind the mike skills (or lack thereof). Now let's move on from whining on perceived whining of just simple commentating.
I didn't think he was too bad. Maybe he thought it would be funny (OR the writers said) to choose the Bulls and talk about them. It wasn't a bad pick at all, especially since he was taking the East angle. His voice was monotone, yes... but this is the problem with TV and it's a hard balance to strike. You've got Greg Anthony on one side, Stephen A. Smith on the other... Guys like Barkley and Kenny are in the middle and very very good, but it took time for them. One show does not make or break Scottie Pippen's chances as a color commentator. HoustonForever - yes, he'll always be Quitten. It's not just the Houston period, think playoffs, blah blah blah. Let people have their fun.
He did a guest spot commentating with Bulls announcers last December, and was surprisingly good. He was only supposed to stay on for a few minutes, but ended up talking for the final three quarters; culminating with a nice "Luol Deng has got some big balls" comment.
